Sophia didn’t say another word until we reached the Delta house.
She knew me well enough to recognize when silence was doing more good than advice.
The entire walk home, I kept replaying those few seconds outside the athletic center.
The blonde smiling.
The casual kiss on Brett’s cheek.
The easy way she’d invaded his personal space without thinking twice.
It hadn’t even been a romantic kiss.
Not really.
Just… comfortable.
Comfortable enough to touch him.
Comfortable enough to know she’d be welcomed.
Meanwhile, after four years, I’d never even hugged him unless it was after a big hockey win or one of us was saying goodbye before winter break.
