Chapter 26
James POV:
In the middle of the night, I fell a movement around me. A voice, a cry for help. I peeled open my eyes and looked at Robert who was in a deep sleep. Turning away from him, I saw Maria who was surprisingly awake but she was sobbing. I quickly got up and ran by her side.
“Maria...” I trailed off as I held her hand and comforted her for as long as I could. She couldn't speak as there was a tube down her throat.
“Do you want something?” I asked.
Tears sprawled from her eyes and they landed on the pillow she was on. There was a bit of mascara around her eyes and it was smeared. She was shaking and that was the moment I realized that she was cold and confused.
Getting up, I got the blanket from the table and placed it over her. It bought her some warmth and fro
