Chapter 28
Maria’s POV:
After taking a warm bath with James, I got out of the washroom and he helped me dress up. During the time in the hospital, all I had worn was long blue gowns but now I had the chance to wear something different — although, I wasn’t comfortable showing any part of my skin to anyone around me apart from James. Even the nurse and the servants terrified me. I never knew that I could fear women even though they were completely harmless.
“You look beautiful,” James said as he cupped my face and came closer to me. I narrowed my eyes down and blushed. I was nowhere near that word. I had bruises and marks all across my face and body — it made me less beautiful.
“Come sit down, I want to tell you something.” He continued after a moment of glaring me deeply. I sat down
