Chapter 16

Evelyn's pov

I was making dinner for both of us as I came back earlier than I thought and Zara hasn't come back yet. I don't know if her Alpha and mate liked the food or not as I didn't call and disturb her.

She will tell me when she comes back from work so waiting patiently is what I'm doing here. I am cooking the remaining pasta I had boiled back then in tomato and basil sauce. I prepared some mozzarella sticks as I love cheese.

Here I can prepare anything I wish to eat without any explanations so I cook something which we both like.

“Eve! Baby I'm home.” Zara said loudly and I smiled at her antics. Sometimes I feel we have age reversal here.

Giving her the water bottle I went back to my cooking.

“Babe, you don't know what happened today. I have big news for you.” she said excitedly

“Are you pregnant? Or are you getting married to Beta Enrique?” I asked her happily because only this two reasons can make her so much elated

She gave me a look as if she wanted to say I'm crazy. But what else can make her so much happy other than this? I don't know if a girl feels too excited. If not for these reasons.

“Babe you're such a spoilsport. None of them are the reason for my happiness. The real reason is you got a far better job then the one you're doing. Our Alpha loved your cooking and he hired you to be his personal cook. He will pay you a good amount. You just need to make his lunch and send it to the office and prepare dinner before he comes home. That's it!” she said in one go and it took me a few moments before I registered what she said

The Lycan king chose me to work in his home? I don't have to work in the cafe anymore? If I work here and get good pay I can make some savings and move out from here as well. I know Zara won't mind me staying here but I shouldn't be a burden on her. I have to learn to live alone and be independent.

“Where are you lost Evelyn? Aren't you happy? Why are you so worried? I thought you would be jumping in happiness. Is something bothering you?” she asked me going all protective

I smiled at her protectiveness as the warmth of her care reached me, making me feel good.

“I am happy Zara. I don't know how to thank you anymore because you're doing more than anyone would have done for a stranger. You're the angel of my life.” I said hugging Zara tightly

“I did what I thought I should do. Now don't thank me and prepare yourself to cook for our Alpha. He has particular choices and is very punctual about everything. So you have to learn it.” she said hugging me back

“Don't worry if I get the job I will do everything as he wants me to do. Now freshen up and come for dinner. “I told her and she nodded

I can't imagine that I got a job in the Lycan king's home. Will he remember me? No, what am I even thinking? He is the hybrid king! He meets many people everyday so how will he remember an omega from a pack which he visited months ago?

Finishing dinner I went back to my room as Zara said she will clean the dishes.

I need to keep the job protected because it can change my life. The pay is good and the workplace will be safe as well. No creeps staring at me or trying to hit on me and flirt with me.

I look very average but Zara says I look very beautiful. I don't believe her because if I was beautiful my mate would never have left me for another woman. No I never loved Zach hell I was scared of him all the time. I just feel bad about the fact he was my mate who didn't accept me. I always waited for my mate and the mate I got was not acceptable.

I don't know when I fell asleep while being lost in my thoughts.

I woke up with a jerk as cold sweat covered my whole body. What did I just see? I checked my surroundings and it was normal.

I was in my room laying on my bed. I took the water bottle from the side table and gulped down half of it.

It's just a dream I tried to tell myself but that dream was too real. It was similar to my childhood experience. Where my family was killed. I saw a boy crawling to save his life. He was older than I was and he was trying to drag me with him as well but before I could someone captured me and that boy escaped somehow turning into his wolf.

I don't know what it is nor do I want to know. These weird Dreams don't let me be in peace which I crave completely. It's a new day Evelyn and now you have to start your new job as well. Stop crying about it and let's go. With this pep talk with myself I got up from the bed to get ready for the day.
