I reached Mr. Thakur’s office.
I knocked his door twice.
“May I come in, Sir?” I asked timidly and waited for his response.
After he said ‘come in’, I entered the cabin slowly and stood up before his table.
“Morning Sir” I greeted him, with anticipation filling up my mind that ‘why he called for my presence at his office’.
“Morning Rabnoor” he said looking towards me from his laptop and gesturing me to sit on chair in front of him.
“I am waiting for Satya to come and then I will let you know about why I called you today.”
“Ok Sir, no problem” I replied smilingly.
And he focused his attention back to his laptop.
I waited patiently for Satya Sir to join us.
In no time Satya Sir arrived in Mr. Thakur’s office.
He greeted Mr. Thakur and Mr. Thakur told him to sit on chair too, next to me.
He was about to sit when he saw me sitting on the next chair to him.
“Oh Hi, ….Rabnoor, you are also here?…How are you now?..Are you OK?” he asked me and Mr. Thakur eyed me in confusion.
Then he looked again to Satya Sir in confusion.
“I am fine Sir, thank you so much Sir for your quick efforts... I owe you a big thank you.” I said to him.
Mr. Thakur still looking toward both of us in confusion.
“Oh, no need to say thank you Rabnoor. It is my duty after all.” He said smilingly.
Now Mr. Thakur’s confusion and his patience both are at their peak.
As from our this little conversation, he could not guess what happened to me and why I was thanking Satya Sir.
After so much confusion, finally he spoke, “What happened to Rabnoor?”
Concern is evident in his voice as he always considers me as his daughter. No doubt he is cold and strict professionally but his heart is very soft.
And before I can say something, Satya Sir bit me in this and said, “Sir you don’t know what happened today?”
He still looked confused with a look on his face that says ‘I don’t have any idea’.
“Sir, she got stuck in the lift this morning.” Finally Satya Sir spilled out the information that was much needed to Mr. Thakur.
“What?” Mr. Thakur’s eyes went wide and he looks shocked.
His eyes turned towards me as if asking me ‘are you for real?’
And sensing his doubts, I nodded my head to confirm that Satya Sir is telling the truth.
“Are you alright Rabnoor?” he asked worriedly.
“Yes Sir, I am absolutely fine, nothing happened to me. Don’t worry Sir.”
“And not to forget Satya Sir and his efficient teammates were very quick to help us out.” I replied very coolly.
He heaved a sigh of relief.
“Us??” he asked me raising his eyebrows. He paused for a while and continued, “Aren’t you alone there?”
“No Sir, actually there was one more person in the lift with me. We both came out safe and sound” I replied him.
“I am glad you are fine.” He said and continued, “Ok now let us go back to work.” He paused for a while.
“Yes Sir” we both said in unison.
Mr. Thakur continued.
“There is a new assignment for our department and I want you both to come with me to attend this meeting.”
“We need to go to meeting room; Mr. CEO must be waiting for us.” Mr.Thakur said and ushered us to meeting room.
We all walked together through the hallway from Mr. Thakur’s room to meeting room.
Oh wow!
I am going to meet Mr. CEO.
This will be my first meeting with him face to face.
Well I saw him in various company meetings in which Admin Department was involved.
But I never got a chance to introduce myself directly to Mr. CEO.
While walking towards the meeting room, Mr. Thakur was busy talking to someone over the phone. We were following him.
“Who was the other person that was stuck with you?” Satya Sir asked me from nowhere.
“Huh..??” I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I could not get what he has asked me.
He got an idea that I didn’t get what he asked so he repeated his question.
“I asked, who was the other guy that was stuck with you in the lift?” he asked again in a very low voice almost whispering.
‘He was an arrogant creepy jerk’
This I thought in my mind and I really wanted to say it out loud but somehow I controlled my thoughts.
“Ahmm… I don’t know.” I replied awkwardly and mentally rolled my eyes on him.
“You don’t know?
…Was he from our company?” he asked me again.
“I don’t know.”
“I have never seen him before.”I replied back
‘And I don’t even want to see him again’ ‘Jerk’
I mumbled under my breath.
“Huh….what???” Satya Sir asked.
On listening him my eyes goes wide in shock. ‘Oh s**t, did he listen?’ I thought
I mentally slapped myself.
Oh God!
I quickly masked my shocked expression and looked towards him.
“Ahmm…nothing.”
“Nothing”
I said raising both my eyebrows and shoulders and moved my head in negative way like trying to say ‘I don’t know what you are talking about’.
Mr. Thakur entered the meeting room followed by Satya Sir and me.
We took our seat near a big circular table and waited for Mr. CEO.
I felt my heart beat racing up.
Wow face to face meeting with Mr. Raghav Malhotra, CEO of our company.
Its not been a long time I joined this company.
I worked really very hard to earn this recognition.
I am super excited and happy today.
