Suspicions

**Veronica*** Lawrence only came back to my room after an hour, and this got me worried. Immediately, I walked over to the door where he stood. “Love, what happened? The call lasted for an hour, sure everything's okay?” “I'm so sorry, my love, I had no idea the call would take this long. I was informed by the beta that there was a reported attack in the neighboring Pack. He wanted me to confirm from our spies if this was true. I had to make a few calls to confirm the authenticity of the news.” “My goodness! So what did you find out, my love?” I asked curiously. “Oh, it's nothing to worry about. The pack is actually safe. It was a false alarm.” “Oh, thanks to the goddess,” I shut my eyes briefly and heaved a deep sigh of relief. When I opened my eyes, I quickly rushed into the arms of Lawrence. “My love, you have no idea just how happy I am-” I paused when I suddenly perceived a strange scent on Lawrence's collar. I froze that very instant and slowly raised my gaze up to him. “Love, are you okay?” He asked while staring down at me with curious eyes. “Huh?” I muttered. Am I supposed to complain about the strange scent? Hell no, he probably changed his cologne. Though this cologne smells womanly. For goodness’s sake, stop getting yourself worked up over nothing. Lawrence isn't that kind of guy. That I know for a fact. “Love, are you okay?” I looked up at my boyfriend and smiled. “Of course… knowing that you're here with me gives me so much joy.” “I'm glad you feel that way. Uhm, love, lest I forget. I'll be going out to race my wolf later this evening. Would also like to communicate with my pack soldiers while at it.” “Oh, that sounds great. We should go together.” “Of course not, love. I know just how tired you feel lately. Let me race alone today. I promise we'll race together tomorrow.” “But you're not used to my pack. You need guidance.” “Of course not. I can do it on my own. Just trust me. I promise that when I'm done, I'll tell you all the places I went to, so I can prove to you that I can very much take care of myself while I'm here.” At this point, arguing with Lawrence wasn't wise. Besides, he's trying to prove himself to me here. I should just let him do what he wants. “It's okay, love. You can explore the pack as much as you want. Is that okay?” “Of course, that's very much okay,” he said, and happily placed a kiss on my head. I shut my eyes and enjoyed the warmth of my boyfriend's kiss on my forehead. Having someone like him in my life, what more can I ask for? ** I woke up in the middle of the night only to notice that the other side of my bed was empty. Lawrence had finally gone out to race his wolf. I placed my hands on the empty spot which he had earlier laid, and it was cold. When did he leave? I slowly tilted my head to the side and looked above me at where the wall clock hung. It was 12: am on the dot. Huh? Does this mean that he left before midnight? I slowly sat up straight on my bed. For some reason, I could feel a tightness on my chest. What's going on? At a time like this, the best thing to do was race my wolf. Come to think of it, the last time I raced my wolf was like a week ago. Damn it! I could have just explained to Lawrence when last I raced my wolf, so he would let me go with him. Now, there's no way I can stay in bed knowing that I need some fresh air. I quickly hopped out of bed, walked over to my closet and picked up a jacket and a pair of jeans. I need to keep myself warm, even though I'll be racing my wolf. I quickly got out of my nightwear and put on the clothes I had selected. The thought of meeting Lawrence on the way made me smile. With that in mind, I picked up my backpack and raced into the woods. After racing for two hours, I had expected I'd meet Lawrence on the way, but I didn't and neither could I perceive his scent. This got me confused. I wonder if he didn't come down this lane. But that was impossible. There's no way he could have raced his wolf without passing through this area. After careful contemplation, I decided to race back to the pack. I probably must have missed him along the way. If that's the case, then he must be back in the pack house and most likely waiting for me. Getting to the pack house, I dashed straight to my room, in hopes of finding my boyfriend. But when I got into my room, the room was empty, and I didn't perceive a scent of him. What's going on? It can't be that he got lost? My goodness! Immediately, I bolted out of my room and went searching for Lawrence. I headed towards the back gates, he probably must have passed through there. But before getting to the back gates, I'd have to pass through Tatiana's quarters. I have avoided this part of the pack, all because I would rather not see her. However, at this moment, there's nothing I can do. I have no choice but to pass by her quarters. Just as I headed towards her room, I suddenly began to perceive the scent of Lawrence coming on strongly. Thanks to the goddess. Good thing I thought of this area, else I would have been worried about nothing. Just as I was heading towards the gate, the scent of Lawrence became heavier, and this only made me increase my walking speed. Just as I was about to pass over Tatiana's room door, I suddenly heard sharp moans. This made me pause and fold my hands into a fist. I can't believe a girl my age and ex-best friend is screwing my dad! I took my gaze towards the door for a brief second before averting my gaze. Just as I was about to take a further step, I realized something, and that was the fact that I perceived Lawrence's scent so strongly at that spot. I creased my brow, wondering what this meant. I decided to do something uncalled-for, and that was to walk over to Tatiana's room. Strangely, the more I got closer, the stronger Lawrence's scent became. It can't be what I'm thinking, for goodness’ sake, it can't be!
