While Serena and Jenni work together to lead the men in packing up our belongings to relocate to the Crystal Lake packhouse, I decide to take a moment to convene with my mother for guidance. Seated in the back garden of the duplex, I dig my hands into the red, rocky earth. I close my eyes and center myself, and suddenly I’m pulled full from this realm into the next.
