Chapter Eighteen Carl read the notes Wayne had attached to the report from Ian Holden’s telephone service provider. Holden had apparently travelled to Pemberton in the Riverland the day after he’d been released on bail and Wayne and Nigel had gone there to investigate. Carl looked up as Harry walked into his office. ‘Just got an update on Holden’s phone,’ said Harry. ‘He’s either switched it off or its battery’s gone flat. They’ve had no signal from it for days.’ ‘Obviously doesn’t want to be found,’ said Carl. ‘It’s working,’ said Harry. ‘There’s still no sign of him.’ ‘What’s at this Pemberton place?’ said Carl, tapping the report. ‘A roadhouse and a couple of houses,’ said Harry. ‘The boys should just about be there by now.’ Carl’s mobile phone rang. He looked at the display. ‘
