Chapter Forty-Five
On a bright spring day in early October, a little over two months since the arson attack on Pauline Francis’ house, PC Lily Chan stayed with the patrol car while her partner, PC Adam Monks, went into McDonalds to get himself a burger for lunch. She scanned the car park, taking in the group of boys standing around a new looking sports car parked next to a dirty white Ford Transit van.
Lily looked at the list of vehicles they were meant to be on the lookout for. She was pretty sure there was a Ford Transit on the list. She noted the registration number: SRBC465. Lily got out and walked towards the van to get a better look at the number. It was SRAD734. She wrote it down and returned to the patrol car.
