THALIA The guard’s grip tightened around my arm as we stepped out of the chamber. I jerked away from him. “I can walk on my own,” I snapped, shaking him off. The moment he let me go, I quickly stumbled in pain. My world tilted for a second, and I would have gone face-first into the stone floor if I hadn’t managed to twist my body just enough to catch myself against the wall. My palms burned as fresh wounds scraped against rough walls, reopening my wounds that are already trying to heal. But I swallowed the pain through clenched teeth.
