“I am not your enemy, Darius. I never was, but you have to listen to me so you’d understand,” I muttered, looking him in the eye and genuinely hoping he’d pull through.
But despite everything I said and my effort to show him that I was willing to talk and tell him what he truly needed to know, the hate in his eyes didn’t waver.
“You’ve already fooled me once,” Darius growled, voice dripping with venom, “You won’t fool me again. You didn’t just rob me of my child. You robbed me of the chance to be his father.”
