Under The Full Moon

Beatrice POV Soon the car stopped, and my dad shifted his gaze to me. “I'm very sure your mom spoke sense into you? Everything is planned; you should play accordingly. Accept that you will be marked as Wesley mate tonight for the peace of this pack to keep fluttering. Don't f*****g mess this up, or you will be done, and when I mean done, I mean dead." After saying this, my dad walked out of the car and opened the door for me. I remain frozen. I had never expected my dad could be this extreme and anxious in this way than ever. Telling me all those handful of words of killing me is absurd. I was lost in thought again, but just then my dad's voice cut in, snapping me back to my nightmare. “What the hell are you waiting for? Let's go.” My father's voice was slightly low, trying not to create a scene that wouldn't make the pack members suspicious. The gathering was vast; every member of the Moonview pack was present under the full moon. It's a ceremony that not only seals the pack together but also maintains peace. Wesley's father, Mr Caprino, was also present together with his wife, Kamala. I stepped down from the car and made my way towards the gathering. The specific place was ancient, meant for different purposes; one of them was helping those that haven't wolfed out to wolf out and also sealing marriage. The place was unique; two giant rocks were carved upwards, and in the middle, a round opening was created. That opening cast the moonlight downward, making the bride and the groom stand at its middle, creating the bond between the moon goddess and the pack itself. I took a step forward, and all eyes were on me. Though the pack didn't know what was going on, all they cared about was for the alpha to have a mate so the circle could be complete. Wesley was standing some distance away at the middle of the moonview rock, where the moonlight cast its shadows downwards. Wesley's expression wasn't friendly; I could tell from the distance where I stood. I walked forward and stood in the middle, where Wesley stood. Wesley didn't even look up at my eyes, though it's not that I wanted him to do so, but he should have at least looked into my eyes so things wouldn't look awkward. I know Wesley isn't in support of anyone of this, so do I. We could just end whatever we are about to do at this very moment. My thoughts spiral, but just then. A voice cut in. “As you all well know, this pack has been in existence for over one thousand years, following it every culture, and now I'm passing it to my son to take over as the alpha of the moonview pack.” The person who had spoken was Caprino, Wesley's father. And the moment he said those words, the pack hurled. Soon it was time to mark me. I stared into Wesley's eyes, and he stared into mine. I could feel my wolf threatening to rage out. She wasn't supporting the idea of Wesley being my mate. I tried to control myself, calming my wolf. Though Wesley noticed this, he stood untouched, just staring at me. Soon it was a full moon, the clouds shifted, and the light was cast fully on the spot where we stood. Wesley leaned forward, his fangs plunged outwards. But before marking me, he whispers in my ear. “You know how I hate you; you can never be my mate, and I will make sure I frustrate your life.” I stood frozen; in that instant, I could feel my wolf go cold. Yes, indeed, Wesley was using his alpha authority on me. And my wolf couldn't stand out. His fangs slowly dug into my neck, and I slightly winced, my fingers curling. After marking me, Wesley slowly retracted his flags. And just after this marking, the entire wolf pack hurled. After the ceremony and I was fully marked as Wesley mate, I went back to my father. He leaned his back against the car we had came with, and in his fingers held a cigarette. Just as I was about to get into the car, my father's voice coldly sounded. “Hey, hold on a bit.” He then pushed his back against the car he was leaning on, and stared at me. “Where do you think you are going?” I was bewildered for that specific question, of course I was going back home; where else could I be going? my thoughts spiral with those words and I wished I could tell him bluntly and loudly to his face, but my gut got stuck. I wasn't ready for another thunderous slap of his again. “Father..." I gently called out before lifting my gaze. “I'm heading home.” My father chuckled with a smile before walking towards me. He properly patted me on the shoulder before speaking. “It looks like you have forgotten that you are a bride now, and a bride can't go back to her father's house.” I blinked, bewildered by his words and I could see his face sneering hard on me. Though I expected that from him. “But Dad, I need to get my things packed before I can move into Wesley Mansion,” I briefly voiced out. “That's what I'm trying to say, you don't need those things anymore; packing your things to move into Wesley Mansion is a waste of time,” my dad scoffed. “Dad, I'm not catching the idea here. What are you trying to say?” I asked, looking confused. My dad then sighed. “You should have figured it out already; you are not going home with him. You are Wesley's bride, and you are going home with him, so you'd better return to him and let his family get a glimpse of you before you finally move into his house.” It was now clear to me, understanding what my father really meant. He doesn't want me to return home; he wants me to start the fake bride lifestyle today with someone who doesn't have even a single feeling towards me. After the ceremony, ideally, I was supposed to meet with Wesley's family, but because I was annoyed and had deemed the ceremony as fake and something that had to be done for the safety of the pack, I hesitated meeting them and instead chose to go home and clear my head before thinking about what to do next.
