"No, my son. I'm only recommending her to you. Do you remember what you told me sixteen years ago?" "What's that?" Fred asked. "When Johnson came…" "Enough!" Fred used his right hand to shun her and he raised his voice. He didn't want her to say anything relating to Johnson. He knew him vividly. Then he faced one of her Mom's pictures on the wall and she wore jewelry. "I almost forgot. I brought ancient jewelry for you," He said calmly trying to change the topic. "Where is it?" She smiled sheepishly. "Let's go down." He said. Fred held his mother up and they walked out of her room. As the guard in the middle of the stairs saw them coming, he went down and they both came down. Sophia was sitting, though she heard their footsteps and raised her face towards them. As they were about to throw their last foot on the floor, she stood up and walked towards them and smiled. Anna embraced her like a daughter. Sophia has very dark hair, s-shaped eyebrows, and full cheeks. She painted her lips red and with the way she smiled, she was close to laughter and was full of happiness. Her red lips and her shiny red sweater made her a bit charming. And Anna delayed their supposed brief encounter with her eyes of admiration. She wanted Fred to say something in addition to his weak smile. "Thank you. I really appreciate all you have done for mom. She told me. Thanks a lot." His words brought great joy to Anna and Sophia's set of white teeth were easily seen. Sophia could not hit her joy and moved her shoulders, making her heavy pack of breasts wobble. "Please, can we have a selfie?" Sophia said. Fred wanted to turn down her request, but Anna quickly obliged. "That will be nice." Sophia tapped the camera of her phone and stood near Fred, and they took a selfie. Sophia smiled with her eyes, lips, and cheeks. Fred produced a forced smile and Anna was lavish with her smile. The three of them came out and as Anna and Fred were walking closer to the car, Sophia stopped and watched. Only Fred and his mother entered the back of the car and Fred opened the suitcase and brought out the golden earrings. "Thank you. What about those ones?" There were other pieces of jewelry in the suitcase, diamond earrings, a necklace, and its pendant. All were in a transplant container. "When did you start loving diamond jewelry?" Fred asked. "I need the earrings." "This jewelry is meant for someone special," Fred replied. " No one will be as special as your wife to be." Fred smiled. It seemed Anna was close to the truth. "Mom, when will you come and visit me at home? It has been a long time since you visited." "I will come on one condition." "What condition? Hmm… I already know. Don't worry, I'm working towards it. I promise." "I hope it doesn't take much time." "It will not. I'm on it. Hopefully." "Please, I need those earrings." "Are you for real?" "Yes, just the earrings." "If that's your wish, I will give it to you." He took the diamond earrings and gave them to her. They were so beautiful and glittered. "That reminds me, where does Sophia work?" "At Debron insurance." She replied and added. "Why did you ask?" "Not much. So, mum, you are perfectly fine, no need to call the doctor?" Her mom smiled and held his right hand. "Fred, you are my doctor. Your action will be my medicine. I can't wait to carry your babies." "I have heard you. I have an appointment at 2 PM today. It is very important to me. When was the last time you heard from my dad?" There was sudden anger on her face. "Is that why you came here?" "No, no. Whenever I visit him at the hospital, he asks after you." "I don't want to talk about him for now. I still have nightmares just thinking about him." She withdrew her hands and there were pains in her eyes. "I don't know how to say this, but the last time I went there, he said, he still loves you." "Tell him to keep his love to himself. No responsible man will hit a woman for any good reason. Quick to hit, then, later he starts apologizing." "You are right, no man should ever hit a woman." he nodded as he said with certainty. "I can still remember vividly all the things he did to me like it happened yesterday. It makes me hate men. How can I trust any other man? Your dad loves me, but he hit me… why? I hate your dad for loving me." She gradually reduced her voice and her eyes came in contact with the small rose in the car. "Because of your dad, I hate roses. Every piece of rose in the house has an attachment of violence." She pressed her eyes with her right and tears came out. Fred took a handkerchief in the car and cleaned her tears. "Please, do not tell me anything about your dad." She cleared her throat and returned to her previous tone and said, "Never hurt a woman, either verbally or physically. Please, do not allow your dad's attitude to influence you." "Why will I do that? Why will you say that?" "You are not the Fred I used to know before you suddenly ran away to your dad. He must have influenced you. You don't choose words before speaking to me. Just the way your dad did before he made me cry." Fred touched her face and interrupted her. "I didn't come here because of my dad. I came here this morning because of you. I treasure you. How many times will I say it?" She smiled and Fred looked at her and stopped. He thought she wanted to say something. "What are you thinking?" He waited. "Nothing much." "Say it?" He persuaded her. "It will not elevate our mood." She smiled again. "Are you making fun of me?" "No, no. How will I do that?" She replied. "Then say it." He demanded, looking into her eyes. "I'm thinking about your wedding day. It will be of great joy to me." Fred looked at his diamond Rolex wristwatch and said. "Mum, I have to go. I have an appointment." "There is never a time you come to visit me, you don't have an appointment." "Then follow me home." "No, the last time I came, I was home alone. Assuming you have a wife or a …" "Okay, okay, "he interrupted. "I said very soon." "But if you don't mind, Sophia is available." She looked at him while he took a deep breath. "I have heard you." He kissed his mom on her forehead, there was a great smile on her face. She turned and wanted to open the door. She quickly returned her face and said. "When am I expecting you again?" She asked. "Hmm…" he hit his fingers on the seat. "I will give you a call." "Don't forget, Sophia is available." "I thought you wanted to leave." Anna came down from the car and the guards entered the car and they drove away. Sophia stood close to Anna, as they both watched the cars leaving the compound. When they could not see the cars anymore, Sophia turned to Anna. "Thank you!" "What have I done?" Anna asked. "Heard some of your conversations upstairs." They turned towards the house and they were discussing as they were going. "You are like a daughter to me. It will be nice to have you and my son come together." As they were about to cross the doorpost, Sophia said. "Does he not want me?" They sat on the couch in the sitting room and Sophia waited for her to reply. Anna pondered over those words and waited to give a balanced answer. "I will keep on talking to him. I'm his mum, and I know what he wants. Everything will be alright." She opened the container in her hand and brought out the diamond earrings. "I am giving this to you. I collected it from my son." She placed the earrings on her palm. They were sparkling and beautiful. "Wow…it is beautiful!" She opened her eyes. Sophia stood up and ran to her house, just the next house. It was a four-bedroom bungalow. She went straight to her room, passing her mom and her younger boy in the sitting room. She stood before her mirror and wore the diamond earrings. The earrings aided her beauty, and her face was more pleasing to look at. She took her phone and took a selfie. She tagged the picture "Diamond earrings from my fiance, My baby Fred." And she uploaded it on Twitter and f*******:. "For my haters, see the confirmation pic," she attached those words to the selfie she took with Anna and Fred. And she uploaded it. Within the next five minutes, the two pictures were already trending online. "You are fortunate…!" "When is the wedding day?" "Please, can you help me get employment from your fiance?" These were some comments on the pictures she uploaded. As she smiled and was reading the comments. A comment came up that spoilt her mood. "Mr. Fred is not even smiling, don't you know she is overreacting?" -one of her haters.
