"I know you're pregnant. I'm the healer in this Pack. And I understand your condition very well, Miss," said Lexi's mother.

I nodded. Initially, I didn't want them to know my identity. And I hoped they wouldn't find out that I was Alpha Etlies' rejected mate.

If they knew I was a rejected Alpha's mate, they would kick me out right now. No! Right now, I needed a temporary place, not for me, but for my unborn child.

"You're pregnant, why were you unconscious in the heavy rain? And where's your partner?" Lexi asked. The well-built man walked towards me. I stepped back a few steps.

"My partner?" I asked nervously. Should I lie to hide my identity?

"My partner died. He lost a fight with a wild Pack. Because at that time, my partner crossed the boundary of land that had become his," I lied, hoping they would believe my lie.

"Ah, your story is so tragic, Miss. Alright, for the time being, you can hide here. Wild Packs are indeed very dangerous," said Lexi.

"It's even more dangerous if Alpha Edward finds out you brought a member of another Pack to Washington Pack, Lexi," said Lexi's mother.

The sound of footsteps was heard. The three of us turned towards the door of this room together. And finally, Lexi's mother pulled me and hid me in a small place inside this room. Like a storage room.

"It must be Alpha Edward. He might have smelled your presence. Stay here, don't move."

Lexi's mother left me. I crouched down, fear haunting my thoughts. I knew very well the rules in Washington Pack. Alpha Edward, the strongest in Washington, would not forgive intruders. I had heard that he once eliminated intruders in a tragic way. He was even the strongest Alpha among all Alphas on this earth.

And he also had the ability to read the minds of werewolves by looking into their eyes. Ah, I hope the moon goddess would save me from Alpha Edward.

The sound of Lexi's room door sliding was heard. "Lexi, tonight we have to hunt. Humans have entered Washington Pack territory. And some of our Pack members have died because of it. You need to be ready."

That firm and deep voice was heard not far from my hiding place. I tried to stand up, curious about Alpha Edward, because he was famous for his strength and cold demeanor.

Peeking through a small gap. Bringing my face closer and looking at the Hewolf standing tall in front of Lexi. Indeed, he was tall with intimidating eyes.

My heart raced as I looked at him. I crouched back down. No wonder he was known as the strongest Alpha in all Packs, his face alone looked terrifying. And yet, also very handsome.

"Yes, Alpha Edward, I will be ready," Lexi answered, sounding trembling. Was he afraid that Alpha Edward would find me?

My body shivered with fear that Alpha Edward would catch me. Not only did he have the ability to read other werewolves' minds, he could also smell the scent of other Packs. I was getting more scared!

"Alright, fighter, prepare your strength. And see you in battle." His voice sounded heavy.

I opened both my eyelids. I took a deep breath. My life felt like it was floating right now. Because of the power, I was short of breath.

Lexi's room door closed again. "Ah, Mom, Alpha Edward didn't recognize the scent of the shewolf I saved," Lexi said.

A few minutes later, Lexi opened the door. I was still sitting weakly in the small room. He reached out his hand and helped me stand up.

I stood up and walked back into Lexi's room. "This doesn't make sense, Lexi. Alpha Edward couldn't smell her presence. Usually, Alpha Edward's ability to smell other Packs can be detected from ten meters away." Lexi's mother shook her head in disbelief.

"But he couldn't smell her presence. This is very impossible." Lexi and his mother looked at me from top to bottom.

"Are you from an ordinary Pack? Do you have any special abilities?" he asked.

I shook my head. "No, I don't have any special abilities," I answered nervously, because I was still trembling with tremendous fear.

"Rest, you need rest right now. Lexi will go hunting, and so will I. As a healer, I will go to the battlefield to heal their wounds," said Lexi's mother. I nodded obediently.

"You can leave this room if you're bored. But don't get caught. They won't recognize you. After I return, Lexi will take you back to where you came from."

I felt relieved. At least for the time being, I was safe here.

I lay down on the bed. Somehow my stomach felt stiff and painful. Trying to endure the excruciating pain.

Lexi and his mother prepared to leave, leaving me alone in the room.

"My stomach, why does it hurt so much?" I asked. I got up from the bed and felt something wet down there.

I reached out my hand and touched the wet part. To my shock, I saw blood flowing from my private part.

"Blood?" I asked, nervous and immediately standing up.

My eyes widened when I saw blood stains on the bed. "Ah, my stomach." I yelped in pain again, sitting on the floor while clutching my stomach that hurt terribly.

Finally, I cried. "Is this what they call a miscarriage?" I asked in my heart.

My heart grew more painful seeing this fresh blood continuing to flow from my body. "What if I lose this fetus? No! It's not possible!" I screamed. But my scream was only stuck in my throat. I was afraid someone would discover my presence.

My body was weak from enduring this pain. I was alone. I had no one.

My body shivered more because of the pain in my stomach. I lay weakly on the floor. "If I really have to lose my fetus, then I will never forgive you, Alpha Etlies," I muttered.

Again and again, I lost consciousness. When I opened my eyelids, I was lying on the bed again.

"You experienced bleeding." Yes, Lexi's mother had come. She must have helped me again.

"I've tried to stop the bleeding, and your fetus can still be saved. You're very weak, and don't move around much, because your pregnancy is fragile, Miss," said Lexi's mother.

Now my stomach didn't hurt anymore, and the pain gradually disappeared. I touched my still-flat stomach, then smiled. Grateful that this fetus still wanted to hold on.

"Thank you, Ma'am. Thank you, I owe you a lot."

I looked for Lexi, but where was he? Why wasn't Lexi here?

"Where is Mr. Lexi, Ma'am?" I asked.

Lexi's mother lowered her head. She seemed to be shedding tears. Was it Lexi? Wasn't he fighting alongside Alpha Edward? But why was Lexi's mother crying when I asked about Lexi's whereabouts? I hope nothing had happened to Lexi.
