Chapter 1: A Chance Encounter
(Emmas POV)
I'll never forget the day I spilled coffee all over a customer's crisp white shirt. I was so mortified. But what happened next changed everything.
As I approached table twelve, our eyes met, and I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body. He had piercing blue eyes and a chiseled jawline that made my heart skip a beat. I tried to play it cool, but my hands trembled as I poured his coffee.
"Oh no, I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed, as the liquid splashed onto his shirt.
He stood, his eyes never leaving mine, and I felt a flush rise to my cheeks. "It's okay, I needed a splash of color in my day," he said with a charming smile.
I couldn't believe how calm and collected he was. Most customers would have yelled at me, but not him. He just smiled and took the napkin I offered.
As we exchanged apologies and introductions, I couldn't help but notice the expensive watch on his wrist and the tailored fit of his suit. He was definitely out of my league.
"I'm Emma," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Ryan," he replied, his voice low and smooth.
Ryan's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled. "Well, Emma, it's nice to meet you. Maybe I'll see you around?"
As he walked away, I felt a sense of wonder. Who was this man, and why did I feel such a strong connection to him?
I went about my shift, but my mind kept wandering back to Ryan. I couldn't believe how much I wanted to see him again.
