Maxwell's Pov "Grandma, this is my boss, Mr. Maxwell Gates. The CEO of Gates's Company." Dorathy told her grandma. "Good evening ma'am." I humbly greeted "Evening, Mr Maxwell." "I'm sorry Dorathy came home late, she was overwhelmed by the duties assigned to her, being her first day at work she had to put things in place. "No problem, please come in." Grandma said with a smile. I am wanted to decline the invitation because I had to go home early for the sake of my daughter, Gabrielle. But I couldn't reject the invite of an elderly woman. I witnessed an heartwarming display of affection, as Dorathy hugged her Grandma, her eyes were filled with genuine joy. I was curious and I observed from w distance, wondering the authentic connection between Dorathy and her Grandma. I had not seen such love because I wasn't raised in that manner. My parents barely had time for me and there was no attachment between us. The Grandma was not only kind to Dorathy but to me also. As I was looking at them, the two shared laughter and stories, and Grandma's eyes were filled with pride as she talked about Dorathy's achievements. "Dorathy,I remember when you were sick during your last exams in college." Grandma said. "Yes, it was such a terrific experience, I still had to read in that condition." Dorathy responded. "You still passed the exam, welldone my baby." Grandma said with a smile. "Grandma, I'm not a baby please, stop embarrassing me in the presence of my Boss." Dorathy said looking at my face "Aren't you a baby?" I asked jokingly "I'm a full grown lady sir." Dorathy said to me as we all laughed. When dinner time approached, Dorathy insisted on preparing a meal for her grandmother and I, The aroma of the food passed through the house, causing an atmosphere that I found unexpectedly comforting. I saw Dorathy's caring and romantic side, I couldn't control my emotions as I started admiring Dorathy and I realized that there's more to her than being just my personal assistant. Later that evening, I drove off in my car, reflecting on the day's observations. Dorathy's dedication to her family and the obvious bond with her grandmother left a lasting impression. I found myself wanting to learn more about Dorathy's background, the stories that built her, and the trainings that guided her. I finally got home and my daughter had been waiting for me. "Good evening Dad." Gabrielle said to me. "How are you dear?" I said with a smile "Dad, where have you been? Gabrielle asked me as I diverted the question and waved her off. It was morning already and I bathed, dressed and left for work. I decided to take a break from the walls of the office and conduct a meeting at a cafe. I told Dorathy to prepare and follow me as my secretary. "Dorathy, get ready in few minutes, We are going for a meeting at a cafe with the clients that brought their proposal to us yesterday." I said. "Okay sir, thanks for yesterday sir." She thanked me. "It's fine, thank you and my regards to your grandma for her kind reception." We finally went to the venue which the meeting was fixed. The atmosphere was cool, and the outdoor seating area provided a good place for talking about business matters in a more casual environment. Dorathy, as always, was elegantly dressed in professional attire, she was ready to start discussing with the clients that I had invited. As they settled into their seats, the conversation flowed effortlessly, However, I couldn't help but notice a young man looking at Dorathy. I had to comport myself in a professional manner, As I continued the discussion with my clients, I was observing the person walking towards Dorathy. The young man, Looked confident and he was ready to start a conversation with her. Uknowingly to Dorathy, My friendly composure in the meeting started to flunctuate as I silently monitored the rapour between her and the stranger. I became jealous, though I tried to discard the irrational feeling, I thought I was being protective as her boss instead of me acknowledging my personal sentiments. As the stranger continued talking deeper with Dorathy, I excused myself under the pretence of taking a phone call. Meanwhile, I turned discreetly towards the table where Dorathy was seated. Desperate to assess the situation. The jealousy I was feeling became obvious in my facial expressions. "Oh, Dorathy, here you are" I interrupted, "Hope everything is going well with our guests." My voice sounded possessive which surprised even me. Dorathy, caught unaware by her boss's sudden appearance, smiled. "Yes, Mr. Maxwell, We were just talking about some project details." The stranger, noticed the shift in communication, excused himself, leaving Dorathy and I alone once more. I went back to my seat and as we resumed the meeting, there was tension in the air. Throughout the remainder of the afternoon, I found it difficult to discard the jealousy that had manifested. However, I remained composed in the meeting. I was adamant to admit such feelings to myself, let alone to Dorathy, my new secretary. As we finished the meeting and left the cafe, I stylishly led Dorathy away from the presence of the stranger. Regardless of my trials to hide my jealousy, I couldn't stop looking at the direction of the young man with a possessive glance. "Dorathy, pack your stuffs and let's go." I said to her. "Alright sir." She responded as she packed the files on her table and put them in her bag. As they parted ways, the tension was in the air. I was battling with emotions that I never expected, I found himself thinking on the thin lines between professionalism and personal sentiments. I slowly realized that the feeling might be more than a protective boss, leaving me with an awareness of the complications that can arise when professionalism and personal feelings set in.
