ZACHARY’S POV
Flashback
I’ve been going to see that wretched wolf for a little over a week now. At first it was fun, watching her squirm under my gazes and my misperceived tenderness . Now, I’m just ready to get rid of the b***h.
“How has everything been?”
I slumped down in the chair opposite of my dad feeling anxious for the events that will take place today.
“Ugh, how long do I have to do this? Being around her so much is starting to put me in a foul mood.” The exasperation that radiated off of me must have been something fierce because I can feel my skin crawl and blood boil with every thought of her. My father stared at me , his anger barely hidden beneath the surface.
“Just tell me what progress you’ve managed to make!” His voice boomed causing the room around us to vibrate.
I exhaled a long weary breath before moving on to the subject at hand.
“Well after having to act like I actually gave a f**k about her wellbeing, she eventaully came around and started talking to me. The isolation worked just as you thought it would. I told her that I was working on getting her out of the dungeons hoping that she would trust me more. Now I've gone 3 days without seeing her which probably has her on the brink of losing her hope and her mind.
The wicked smile that beamed on Alpha King’s face was soul deepening and mind boggling all the same. It made the internal air feel so thick and unnatural that it was practically palpable.
“Lets retrieve her then.” His smile only grew bigger and held more malice as the moments dragged on.
“CAESAR!”
A guard appeared before another exhalation was made. He wore the standard warrior colors of all black from head to toe. A long sleeve black round cut shirt, paired with long black cargo pants and black combat boots shined to perfection. His hair was a vibrant brown that resembled a bottle of raw fresh honey, and his short trimmed beard matched and magnified it. His eyes were an electrifying silver color, it seemed almost ghostly yet only accentuated his sharp precise features.
“Yes alpha.” His face remained emotionless and stone like no matter the mutterings that escaped his lips as he began to exit the room.
“Oh and Caesar? Make sure to treat her kindly.” Just a mere second passed before the smiles that lied on their faces grew eagerly more menacing .
“Of course alpha.” with a bone chilling grin and no time to waste Caesar disappeared still leaving the dangerous glint in his eyes as a reminder.

After the long and rather nerve wracking walk through the hall, at last we reached a large beautiful cherry oak door with prominent pyrography covering the delicate piece of wood. In the epicenter of all the intricate burns, a beautiful large wolf was depicted howling like they had suffered the greatest loss in the world. Before Zach got a chance to speak I found myself instinctively touching the elegantly carved portrait on the door in front of me.
“Why do they look so miserable?” My voice suddenly began to quake for no reason but I couldn’t stop it from happening. Something about the door seemed so familiar that it was uncanny but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
“ I don’t know, It’s just some old carving love. My dad had the door carved right before I turned 9.”
Zach answered without a hesitation or a second thought before knocking on the door we stood in front of. We stood for a few seconds before a loud husky ‘Come in!’ rang from the other side of it. Before I could react my body began to tremble uncontrollably, the more I willed it to cease, the more it shook.
“It’s okay tesoro, I promise.” No matter how much I knew I should have protested, I couldn’t find it in me to do so. Instead I linked my left arm into his right as he slowly opened the door. He’s not my mate and that much I know of, so why the hell was I so drawn to his words?
CHAOS’S POV
He leads me into a large room with high ceilings and tall blood red walls. A lit and roaring fireplace on my left and a black leather couch on my right, and straight ahead the Alpha sits at his thick wooden desk. I recognized it as his office from the previous times I had been reprimanded for my “behavior”.
“Step Forward”
A deep voice comes out from the darkness that makes us scurry forward, as the shadows start to cascade around his menacing scowl we approach. Zach bows and glances in my direction, ushering me to do the same.
“Bow to your alpha mutt!” Giovanni's voice bellows out reaching beyond the room.
Anger starts to rise from my gut but the last thing I want is to be thrown back in the dungeon, so reluctantly I bow.
“Sorry alpha” I mutter out
He begins to strut to the front of the desk as a look of disgust spreads across his face.
“Sorry?... Yes you are sorry, a sorry excuse of a pack member, a sorry excuse of a wolf, a waste of talent and a sorry…”
“Now that's enough!” Zachs voice rang throughout the halls as he stood. My head shot up and I saw a Zachary I've never seen before. His jaw clenched tight with eyes full of fire and a scowl of pure hatred.
“That is enough father, I brought her here as agreed but it was not for you to speak down to her in such horrible ways and I will not allow it. So we…”
“Not allow it?” He interrupts as his eyes shot daggers in Zachs direction
“The only reason your little friend here is out of her cage is because I’m allowing it. Just because you are my son does not warrant for you to forget your place Zachary.” His eyes shoot in my direction and he lets out an exasperated sigh as he walks back to his seat.
“Bothof you sitt”
Zach and I both take a seat in the two leather chairs placed in front of the desk.
“Now.. my son may be out of his mind speaking to me like that.. But he does have a point. I didnt bring you here today to speak that poorly to a pack member, but I did come here to let you know that the one and only reason you are seeing the light of day again so soon is because of my son's multitude of requests.”
My head shot up as a look of confusion spread across my face from the look on the alphas face he could tell what I was thinking.
“I know, surprising right? To be completely honest it was just as surprising to me but he wouldn't stop talking about you for the past few days.” I unintentionally blushed as I looked back down
“Dad..” Zach creaked out and looked in my direction almost seaming flustered “I was just saying how youve been down there long enough and it was time to let you out again stuff like that.”
Giovianni cleared his throat
“Well back to the matter at hand.. Chaos..”
I looked up locking eyes with him as a chill suddenly crept down my spine
“This little outburst of yours is not the first time.. But you can bet it will be the last time because from here on out..”
He leaned back in his chair smirking
“Zachary here will be your new best friend”
My eyebrows scrunch in confusion “best friend?”
I look at Zach who looks just as confused as myself
Giovanni chuckles a bit “Well best friend, chaperone, peacekeeper, however you would like to word it, but until I can trust you once again to keep that temper of yours under control you’ll stick to him like glue” He smiles looking in Zachs direction “I figured since you wanted her out so soon you could watch her.” He looks back in my direction “or you can choose to go back to the dungeons and this time I decide when you come back out?” a less than friendly smile slides across his face “your choice Miss. Ricci.”
I swallow my pride as the image of the dungeons runs through my thoughts. I feel Sylas hesitation to the situation but I have no other option.
I Hear syl talking to me
“Dont you dare”
“I have to syl”
I smirk and look up at Zachary
“So… what's your favorite color, new best friend? '' As reluctant as I felt I knew I didn't have a choice, for once Zach might be innocent but he's ruled under his fathers thumb and his dad is a tyrant he always has been. Regardless I'll get to the bottom of it one way or another.
And Ill be right behind you the whole way” Syl mumbles
