Week 7 Beautiful Chaos Chapter 5

3315 Words
“Hello Tesoro.” I dart my head in the opposite direction of him, trying not to think about how it’s partially his fault I’m in this s**t hole in the first place. “Can we talk?” Who was this and what did they do with the real Zach. I don’t know what his angle is right now, and I sure as hell had no intentions of finding out “Talk? Why would I talk to vermin like you!”  The words rolled off my tongue as a swaggering smile tugged at the corners of my lips. His eyes closed as he exhaled deeply before opening them again.  “Please just hear me out.” he sighed in evident irritation. I didn’t move or say anything else to further the conversation hoping he would just go away. Jokes on me I guess. He lazily plopped down to the floor next to where I stay chained to the wall. “I’ll just sit here until you agree to talk to me.” I couldn’t help but wonder what he could possibly be doing here , and why was he acting so...nice? *I don’t know, but I don’t trust him!* Syla growled cautiously, making a shiver run down my spine. “Earth to Chaos! Did you hear anything I said?” He had been talking but it was like I completely silenced him out. I let out a low growl to let him know that I was not in the mood for his stupid games. He sat in silence before standing once more. “I brought you something.” He quickly walked to the cell door before tapping it twice and whispering something to the guards stationed outside. After only a few seconds , I could hear his footsteps retreating back in my direction. I snapped my head towards him before I could think about it, only being able to focus on what he held in his hands. A large dinner plate with one of my favorite meals; medium well steak with brazed potatoes and fresh cooked green beans. I could feel my mouth start to salivate and Syla howl out in delight, but I still had to be wary. “Why would I trust you to give me anything!” I spat realizing how foolish I would be to trust him so easily. Zach let out a soft sigh as he rolled his eyes before sitting next to me. “My dad keeps you pumped pretty full of wolfsbane, yes? I don’t feel the need to do what he’s already doing ten fold” he shrugged his shoulders and began to cut a sizable bite from the steak. “But since you’re acting like such a baby, I’ll eat a piece right now to prove to you that nothings wrong with it.” With those words he proceeded to take a bite of every option on the plate before sitting the utensils down. “See I told you.” he spoke impudently which won him a hard glare from me. As much as  I wanted nothing more than to see that hot meal all over his smug face.. I couldn’t deny how famished I felt.  “Fine.” I muttered under my breath, making him give me a cocky grin knowing that he won at least one front. Zachary stood, plate in hand prepared to give me a bite. “Must you feed me like a child!” I was a bit embarrassed, and  became more pissed with every fleeting moment. “Well you’re kind of shackled to the wall there love, don’t really see a way around it. He gestured his hand to my chains while baring a ‘you know I’m right’ face. I let out a low growl in defeat once again before Zach brought a fork full of steak and potatoes to my mouth indicating that it was time to stop talking and eat. This time I obliged with no resistance. “Full?” I nod feeling much better now that I’ve had something in my stomach “Now can we talk?” I cut my eyes in annoyance, “Was feeding me and acting like a decent person supposed to be some kind of bribe?”  spite filled my every word. “Not at all, just figured you deserved to eat. it’s not your fault you’re down here anyway.” He gave me one last tender smile before patting my head and exiting my cell yet again leaving me alone. “What the f**k was that? The next following days progressed the same, Zach brought food and his company every day in an attempt to get me to talk to him for goddess knows what reason. I still had nothing to say to him, but it was obvious that this boy was relentless. “Tesoro, it’s been a week now, what more can I do to get you to talk to me?” he questioned. I observed his face, but to my astonishment, I could see nothing but defeat in his eyes. Zachary King has always made my life a living hell, why would he suddenly start being friendly with me? I just couldn’t wrap my head around what his intentions could be. I sigh, feeling a little bad for him “What do you want from me King?” A small smile crept on his face. “Well for one I really wanted to say sorry for how I behaved the other night. I got really drunk, but that’s still no excuse” He rubbed the back of his neck and glanced down at the floor waiting for my response, but I was completely dumbfounded. “Please say something.” he pleaded so softly it was almost a whisper. “I’ve never heard you apologize to anyone for anything...except your dad of course.” I roll my eyes at the last part of my sentence. Zach let out a gentle chuckle, “Well I rarely have anything to apologize for.” He winked, making me die of laughter.  “Righhht” I say sarcastically. Zach glares at me before letting out a hearty laugh. We spent the next few hours chatting about random things, just to pass the time. As much as I’d hate to admit it, when he’s not being a total t**t, he’s not so bad to be around. “Well me and some of the guys are supposed to go out tonight and I probably shouldn’t be late.” He stood up and stretched, probably uncomfortable from sitting on the stone floors for so long. Midway to the door he turned showing a supple smile. “Oh by the way I’m working on my dad letting you out of here, you don’t deserve to be kept locked away like you’re some kind of monster.” He gazed at me for a few more seconds before he departed, leaving my cell dark and silent. If I didn't know any better I’d say that I almost miss him when he’s not around, however that would be absurd. I’m just lonely and miss my friends and family. We’ll go right back to hating each other as soon as I'm out of here, I’m sure. *Do not get too close to that wicked wolf or his tyrant of a father, they cannot be trusted!* *Relax Syl we just have idle conversations, I’m just sick of being down here alone.* I groan, not wanting to hear the lecture she no doubt has locked and loaded. “You have me.” she spoke confidently *That’s not the same thing Syla and you know it.* *All I’m saying is, trust him as far as you can throw him..and I’m sure you can’t even pick him up* *Yeah, yeah I know Syl, don’t worry he can’t stand me as much as I can't stand him.* This time there was no reply. I could feel Syla’s nervousness but I think she’s just overreacting, she’ll see that other than being persistently bothersome, he’s harmless. The next two days came and went with no signs of Zach and I couldn’t help but feel slightly disappointed. It was nice while it lasted I suppose , I just hope I get out of here before I go utterly insane.   *Syl?* *Yes little one* *What more can you tell me about our powers? And why did you never think to mention that we had powers before?* Syla let out a small sigh as if bracing herself for the inevitable conversation that was arising. *There’s plenty I can tell you and some things that I’m still unsure of myself. And to answer the second question, it’s because...I didn’t know* “You didn’t know? How is that even possible?” My words came stammering out before I could even think. I mean it’s not like I believe Syla would ever lie to me, but with all of the information that she just showcased, it seems unlikely that she remained clueless to all of this...right? “It happened about 3 weeks ago..” she murmured quietly. “What did?” I questioned impatiently. “The night of your 21st birthday after you passed out drunk, I earned a visit from Everessence herself.” “How is that even possible?” “There was this blinding light that engulfed our mind, even though I wasn’t sure what was going on I felt calm..at peace even. That’s when her angelic image showed clear as day in our mind. “Hello my sweet little Syla.” Her voice was melodious like a beautiful song that I wish could play on repeat. “W-who are you?” I probed even though deep down I knew the answer I could feel it. “My name is Everessence dear child.” She conveyed her words so lovingly that it caused me to purr in unadulterated awe.  “I don’t understand, is this a dream? Why Am i dreaming of the moon goddess?”  “It’s more like a lucid dream that I’ve created in order to communicate with you.” All I could say was, “Oh.” “It is time for you both to begin fulfilling your destiny.” “Our destiny?” An involuntary giggle danced through the air at the thought. The moon goddess released a steady breath before millions of strings, of what appeared to be light began wrapping around me. It was over as quickly as it started but something seemed off, The lightheadedness came crashing into me like waves. “W-what did y-you do?” Just as I spoke images began flashing through my mind. My heart rate increased and the illustrations continued to rush in without forgiveness, until it unexpectedly came to a stand. “Those visions, what were they?” I cried in an attempt to attain my poise once more. “Not visions my child, memories. Your memories. Even though I should’ve felt shocked, inquisitive even..but all I could feel was relief..for the first time in a long time , i felt whole. “It is time for your journey to begin, but remember Chaos must make the choice on her own accord. You may encourage and guide her but you can make up her mind for her. I nodded in understanding before bowing my head out of respect. “Can I ask one last thing.?” “What happens if she chooses a different path?” You could hear the fear and uncertainty in Syla’s voice as she spoke delicately. “That isa answer I am unable to grace you with unfortunately, but I can say that sometimes many roads can get you to the same destination.” Soon the brazen light that seemed to cloud my mind dissipated leaving me in a peaceful sleep. I looked at the wall in front of me with my mouth gaped open like a fish out of water. “How the hell did I not feel any of that!” I said with a pout on my face almost feeling left out. “Well what was in the ‘memories’ that you saw?”  “I actually can’t tell you that..” she muttered “And why the hell not?” I groaned, growing frustrated. I feel as though I have more questions than I began with, and even less answers. “I can’t tell you that either….” “Syla i swear if you don’t start talking i’m gonna-” Before I could finish my sentence my cell door slammed open with a loud bang that echoed off of the walls surrounding me. A guard marched in stoically and stone faced, before reaching the wall that I was chained to. “It’s time to go.” he said without a trace of emotion as he began unlocking the shackles around my wrists and ankles. “Go? Go where!” The panic in my voice was unmistakable , not that the guard cared about me or my feelings. He unshackled my ankles prior to moving on to my wrists. Once the last chain was undone i fell to the floor with a loud thud. “What a gentleman.” I groaned before aiming to roll on my side in order to push my weakened body off the ground. The guard let out a throaty growl before roughly snatching my arm and lifting me of the ground. “Ow! That hurts you bastard!” I hissed  “He let out a heinous laugh before whispering in my ear. “What makes you think I care about an abomination like you?” I looked at his face to see a malicious grin plastered on him from ear to ear, making me shudder slightly , not that I would let him know what effect it had on me. I shot him a glare before looking back down at the ground. He let out one last small laugh before forcefully dragging my half limp body out of the cell.  I still had no idea where I was going but seeing that I can’t even walk on my own right now, I know I have no chance in fighting him off and escaping. I guess i’ll just have to accept my fate, whatever that may be. “Everything will be okay Chaos, I promise” Something in Syls voice reassured me more than it ever has before, it was impossible not to believe what she said. “I shook the last bit of fear from me before we exited the dungeons. The sun beamed down on us as soon as we exited the large titanium hatch doors that hid all the cells from public view My feet landed on soft cool grass the moment we climbed from the dungeon doors, sending a wave of relief through me. I didn’t realize just how much I missed nature until now. The sun shone radiantly , warming up every inch of skin that was left exposed as we traveled from the dungeons towards the pack house. The gentle breeze blew through my hair, sending the sickly smell of spring flowers throughout the air. The sound of birds singing and children playing could be heard in the distance, almost making me forget the hell that this last couple of weeks have brought me. After ten minutes of walking, the packhouse was in view causing dread to fill me. I could feel the bile threatening to rise into my throat. Once we stepped inside there were a plenitude of wolves running around taking care of their daily chores and responsibilities, but that didn't keep anyone from stopping what they were doing to gawk at me. I was met with endless pairs of disfavoring eyes that watched my every move like I would morph into some hideous creature in three winks. I made eye contact with Emily and boy did I wanna wipe that smug look off of her overly tanned face! She slyly threw a wink my way forcing a growl to emit from the deepest pit of my chest. I may not have approved of what Syla did, but right now she’s making me wish that Syl would’ve just ended her right then and there. The guard eyed me up and down with a hateful glare before speaking.  “Do not test me nuisance , if it was up to me..you’d be executed in the cruelest fashion. Plus it doesn’t seem to me that you are in fighting condition Ms.Chaos, it’d be a shame to see one of these wolves rip your pretty little head from your body. He smirked knowing that at that second he was right and there was nothing I could do about it. I reluctantly hung my head low and cursed him under my breath.  “That’s enough Caesar , I asked you to retrieve her. That does ot entail treating her like some common criminal!” I automatically recogized the silky smooth voice that danced i the air around me...Zachary. I rose my head to be met with his dazzling hazel eyes. He gave me a wide grin while descending downstairs to where Caesar and I stood. He glowered at the guard forcing him to bow out of respect. “Sorry young alpha, she’s a little difficult to handle. I quickly whipped my head in his direction not believing what I just heard “That lying son of a b***h” Syla scoffed. “I find that hard to believe.” Zachary gently caressed my cheek rubbing his thumb back and forth and he did so. “Are you okay tersoro?” he slipped his index finger under my chin driving me to lift my head and look him in the eyes. “Y-yes I’m fine”  He smiled at me softly causing a burning flush to appear on my face. I quickly squirmed out of his grasp and looked down to the floor once more. A light chuckle rested on his lips before he placed one of his hands on the small of my back to lead me upstairs. “You’re dismissed Caesar!” He called out as we ascended up the staircase. I gave one last quick glance to the audience below , feeling satisfied with the rage and evy taking residence upon Emily’s face. She shot me one last glare before storming off. We walked down the long corridor of doors before it dawned on me to ask. “Um, mind me asking where we’re going?” “You’ll see love.” Yeah because that's not vague at all. I rolled my eyes internally at his response. “I had a bad feeling about this but what more could I do. “Well then kindly lead the way I guess.” He gave me a reassuring smile before we continued down the long corridor, probably to my impending doom...
