Alexandria is the heir to the lycan throne. When she was ten years old, her parents sent her to live in the pack of a trusted family friend in an attempt to both protect her and give her a chance at a normal life before she faces her destiny. For the past eight years, she's lived as Alex Sharpe, the adopted daughter of the Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack. She's trained to be one of the best, she's finished school, and she's fallen in love. Now, she's eighteen and has full access to her wolf, but no idea how to control the powers that come with being the lycan heir.

Chapter One:
I sidestep just as a roundhouse kick goes sailing past my head. Another punch is coming at me from my left. As I duck and dodge, I kick the legs out of one of my opponents, and they fall forward into another. As I step back, they recover and begin to circle me. Three on one aren’t the best odds, but I’ve seen enough to know their weaknesses. As they advance towards me, I know I must move in a blur, flipping over the smallest opponent and landing a swift kick into his back. As he falls forward, I parry a blow from the tallest, and he goes down within a minute. But there’s one left. I locate my last opponent, who’s standing less than two feet away, and run through my options in my head. He’s smart, he knows the way I fight, but he pushes his weight into his right foot before he swings, and he isn’t as flexible as I am. As if his moves are scripted, he advances, and just before he strikes, he shifts his weight onto his right foot. I bend backwards and kick out my leg, tripping him just enough. He falls to the ground, but reaches out and takes me down with him. He’s straddling me less than a moment later. “It’s over Alex, just give up,” he says. But that’s not in my nature. So instead, I wrap my leg around him, jab my elbow into the crook of his, and push upwards, gaining just enough momentum to flip us. As I land on top of him, I place my hand over a pressure point he knows will knock him out. “It’s over Noah, just give up.” I parrot. “All right, that’s enough for today. You’re all dismissed. Congratulations on graduating today and have fun tonight, but remember to be here tomorrow, 5 a.m. sharp.” Ralph, the trainer, says before walking out of the training complex. I hear Flynn and Ryder groaning from their spots on the floor and can’t help but laugh. “You did great, Lex, but maybe next time you can go a little easy on us.” Noah jokes as he reaches up and wraps my ponytail around his fist before pulling me in for a long kiss. “All right. That’s enough of that. Get your hands off my sister and let’s head home and get ready.” Flynn interrupts, as he and Ryder pick themselves off the floor. They walk over to us, coming to a stop right next to me. I huff out an annoyed sigh before standing up, and Flynn reaches down and pulls Noah up. The four of us exit the training center and head for the pack house, the center point of our pack, and where the Alpha’s, Beta’s, and Gamma’s families live. Once inside, I parted from the boys, who barreled into the mess hall like they'd never seen food before, to go shower and get ready for today. Fifteen minutes later, I was wrapped in a warm towel and trying to pick out an outfit for my high school graduation. Finally, I found the perfect dress and sent a quick text to Jessica, my best friend, asking for help with my hair and makeup. I want to look perfect for today, and can’t accomplish that without her help. She always laughs at my attempts, and tells me “while I’m blessed with a clear face and killer body (in more ways than one), I am utterly hopeless at all things glam.” I can’t contradict her; I can, at best, throw on mascara and lipstick and call it a day. Within minutes, she’s in my room, gushing about our graduation and me turning eighteen. As she curls my long brown hair, I look in the mirror at myself, ice-blue eyes staring back at me, and allow myself to get lost in my own thoughts. After today, everything will be different. Not only will I be an adult, but I’ll get my Lycan. Oh, right. Let me fill you in. I am the daughter of the King and Queen of Lycans. But don’t worry, no one knows that. I’m the oldest (and only) girl and have two younger brothers. But where werewolves tend to follow the patriarchal way of only allowing the alpha’s oldest boy to inherit the title of “Alpha,” Lycans have allowed that tradition to fall by the wayside. I am supposed to one day succeed my parents and one day rule over the packs and ensure peace between Lycans and werewolves and all the other species, but my dad promised me that is decades away. But it's hard being known as a princess everywhere you go. People treat you differently and there tend to be a lot of threats made against you, so my parents secretly arranged for me to live in their old friend’s pack when I was 10. As far as everyone around here is aware, the Sharp family “adopted me” after my parents were killed in a rouge attack. My dad apparently met Flynn’s dad, Aaron, at the military academy when he was 12, and they have been close friends ever since. Aaron Sharp is the current Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack, and Flynn will succeed him in the next few years. Flynn’s best friends, Noah and Ryder, will be his Beta and Gamma. In a weird coincidence, Flynn and I share a birthday. We turn 18 tomorrow, so naturally the Sharps are ignoring the fact that people graduated and are throwing us a massive 18th birthday party tonight. Noel Sharp, Flynn’s mom and the Luna of the pack, invited the alphas from almost every pack and everyone she has ever met has been running around for weeks trying to get everything “perfect” for it. I know it will be a great party, every one she has ever thrown has been, but I can’t help but be a little nervous. Lycans are the “superior” species, and while we’ve been gifted the ability to mask our scent from the moon goddess, I’m not sure how I’ll differ from the pack. It’s super rare for Lycans to mate with werewolves because of the differences in life spans and pack territories and it's been so long since I’ve seen my parents or my siblings that I don’t even remember what I’m supposed to look like once I shift. Aaron and Noel have tried to help prepare me as best they can, and while the basics are the same, I’ll have access to power and strength they could never imagine. I was hoping my parents would do something to help me prepare, but when they sent me here they made it clear there would be little contact for my own safety. So, aside from birthday presents and the occasional card, I’ve had no relationship with my family for the past eight years. But honestly, it wouldn’t have been very different, because I would have ended up at the military academy once I turned 12 anyway, so I won’t pretend like I’m sad about it. Instead, I got to grow up normal, make friends I never would have met, fall in love, not worry about the proper thing to do or wear, make mistakes, everything. Flynn doesn’t know about my past, but he’s never treated me as anything less than his little sister. He’s included me in everything, from his exclusive 5 a.m. training sessions to getting drunk in the woods with Noah, Ryder, and whoever else. He protects me (at least, I let him think he does) and we’ve helped each other become better over time. Though I hate having to lie to him about my past, it is for the best right now, because everything he knows, Noah does too.
