Chapter 16

Katherine POV "Two hours". It had taken Jaden a mere two hours to find me. And here I thought I'm free from him. How stupid was I to even think that! "So do you mind telling me what's all this? And why in the world did you leave without informing, without informing me, If I might add?" Jaden asked, his voice a deadly calm. The kind that have you run for your life. I just stood there biting my lip, not knowing what to do or say. Just plain silent. While Jaden stood in front of me towering over me, his hands clenched in a tight fist. My eyes glanced at his fist and noticed dried blood on his knuckles. Did he hit somebody? Killed someone? Shiver ran down my spine. I knew Jaden was dangerous. But it didn't strike me just how dangerous he can be until now. I tried my best to maintain a calm exterior but deep inside I was scared. Hell! Saying that I'm scared is an understatement. My mind is going crazy with fear and panic, a thousand thoughts running in my head yet my body is numb, unable to react, as I looked into Jaden's hard unreadable eyes, I knew I'm in deep deep trouble. "Answer me" he barked, I flinched at his words. I still was unable to utter a single word out of my mouth. He came dangerously close and roughly held my shoulders. His eyes penetrated my soul, looking for the answers. I stood there helplessly at his mercy. "Please, leave us alone", came my weak voice. That was all I could manage to tell. My throat was drying up, hands clammy with sweat and I was trembling head to toe. His gaze was still hard looking at me. "Please," I tried again. I know it won't have any effect on him. But I had to try. His hands slide down and interlock with my hands. Why is he doing this ? Why is he doing all this? Why is he stalking us? I already told him, I won't say anyone about the murder and I didn't. What does he have in store for me now? Why is he taking such an immense effort for me? He doesn't even know me. His fingers give a tingling feeling in my hands. I won't give him any satisfaction knowing that he is making me scared. I won't back down. I'm still very scared but I have to be brave and to protect my sister I will do anything. "If you leave, we won't tell the cops or anyone about this" I said, my voice a little braver this time. I tried to untangle my hands from his, but his grip tightened slightly. He came dangerously close. Jaden sighs loudly. "Let's go," he shouted over his shoulders. Did that work? That was easy, I thought to myself. I can't believe they are leaving us. Yes! Thank God! Jaden turned and grabbed my hands and started walking towards the door. One of the guys was already standing at the door. As soon as I realised what he was doing. I try to put up a struggle. Stupid stupid Katherine. What did you think that he'll leave you this easily- my subconscious taunted. "No, no, no, no", I tried to make myself free from his hands, but it was of no use. Angry tears blurred my eyes. I continued to try and get myself free but he was too strong to even budge. Suddenly I realised and looked over my shoulder. Amelia was still passed out in the bed. She hadn't moved at all. Fear and panic rise inside of me. More tears blur my eyes as I see Amelia on the bed helpless. This is all my fault. She kept telling me we shouldn't go with Jaden, but I assured her that we are safe. We are in this shithole because of me. She is lying on the bed helpless because of me. I cannot forgive myself for what I did. "Did yo- you kill- killed her?" I asked in a horrified whisper. The tears that were threatening to spill from my eyes finally started to roll down my cheeks. Jaden stops and turns to face me. His eyes were no longer hard. For a split second, I think concern flitted accross his face before his face turned impassive. He shook his head sideways. "Then why is she not moving?" I asked, still trying to free my hands from Jaden. "Chloroform," James standing next to Amelia, said. A small amount of relief I felt right after he said those words. But it was quickly replaced by fear when Jaden dragged me again. I can't leave Amelia alone. No. Most importantly she needs me. She can't live without me. "I hate you, I so hate you" I screamed. I try to smack him on the shoulders with my other free hand. It's completely useless. He doesn't even care. He stopped at a room door and suddenly turned to face me, and I ran into the brick wall of his chest. I looked up at him. His honey eyes lifted to mine. This time his graze didn't hold displeasure but there wasn't any pleasure either. They were just cold. His eyes roamed over me, making me more conscious of my body. Shit, I totally forgot I was only in my bathrobe. I saw Jaden signalling someone behind me but before I could get my bearings, somebody placed a handkerchief on my nose and a weird smell entered my nostrils. I tried to put up a fight to break free, but I started feeling numb and before I knew the world turned black. "I'm so sorry, kitten." I heard a faint voice as I felt a pair of strong arms lifting me before darkness took over me.
