Prologue: The Soul Bond Shattering
At the genesis of the Lycan beast nations, the Sovereign Alpha King, Aeon, soared to power. A titan of his kind, his reign and love for his people were also mirrored in the depth of his love for his fated mate, Selene. His Luna; their divine soulmate passion traversed their love. An Alpha and Luna pair who perfectly complement each other in their leadership, their love, strength, and stability were a shining beacon of unity for their people.
King Aeon's strength was formidable. Conversely, his weakness was fragile and clear—his adoration for Selene.
Upon learning of Selene being slain in a brutal enemy conflict, Aeon's grief was so tremendous that it not only ripped a chasm in the soul of his being; it threatened to ravage the foundations of his entire realm.
The deep and suffocating anguish was amplified by the fated Alpha and Luna soul bond. His misery was felt by all under his reign as they fell to the twisted whims of a broken mind.
Upon realising the suffering of his kind, Aeon is now fully cognisant of the potentially disastrous effects of such reliance. Magnified by the soul bond, his personal grief has the ability to shatter the unity of his people.
Aeon sought the Luna Goddess in his deep agony, begging the goddess to save his kind from such an unbearable fate. "Please, Goddess Luna, have mercy on us. No being should have to go through the agony of losing their mate, their soulmate, or their love. The bond of Alpha-Luna, so blessed we be in love in life, only to transform into a tortuous chain in death. Allow this connection to be dissolved by your divine might!" He pleaded.
His heartfelt plea resonated through the cosmos to the heavens, eventually reaching the Luna Goddess, who weighed his words with divine discernment. The appeal was poignant, yet the threat of severe repercussions was harrowing. Nonetheless, she granted his request, but only after demanding a hefty price. "In exchange for this shattering, you and your descendants will forever be indentured servants of the Celestial Gods. Your enhanced abilities will be employed as we necessitate, bound by our cosmic decree."
Aeon agreed, amid his grief and anguish. Thus was completed the first and only known divine shattering of soul bonds.
The soul bond with Selene had now been violently severed, relieving him of his torment.
But his relief was short.
The shattered soul bond caused an unanticipated result—a concealed curse.
Each Alpha King would be blessed with heightened abilities but plagued by the phantom pain of their severed soul bond, perpetually reminded of their lost connection.
From this day on, the Lycans no longer required the moon of the Luna Goddess to summon their Lycan beast might. They evolved beyond their beast form and could now call forth their beast strength at will.
Their Alpha-Luna soul bond, once a societal cornerstone, evolved into a choice of affectionate companionship. The clans adapted, relying less on the Alpha-Luna connection and instead strengthening their cohesiveness through bonds of mutual respect and loyalty.
This new era of enhanced Lycans blossomed under the curse's concealed shadow, with each Alpha King serving the celestial gods as he swore, their heightened powers symbolising their divine pact. The consequences of their evolution remained inextricably connected with each Alpha King, a secret tribute to the first Alpha King's profound love for his Luna and the sacrifice of the soul bond made for their kind.
Little did they know that the reverberations of this ancient severance would reappear in the future, endangering the harmony they had painstakingly built.
The Luna Goddess was unaware that her own undiscovered fated soul mate, the Celestial Lycan, had suffered dearly from her cosmic deal with the Alpha King.
And when the tormented Celestial Lycan would regain enough strength, he would take revenge for the centuries of torment he had endured from the shattering of this bond.
