Abby's POV:
Mister Adams came to talk with Luke. Things didn't end well. I know he regrets everything. My boyfriend won't forgive him that easily. Luke wasn't right to treat him like that, but I understand why he did it. I still think there was a better way they could talk. The problem is not mine. I probably shouldn't mess with it. The thing is that I can't stay away. I want to help them fix things. The only thing I haven't done is talk with his mom. I know she hates me. Probably, our conversation won't be long. Well, I still want to try. I want to understand why she makes a difference between her kids. I mean mostly when it comes to her younger son. I have nothing against Sam, but he is not the only kid in the family. He doesn't like this either but can't do anything. The boy tried to talk with his mom, but she didn't want to listen. She has to listen to me. I won't walk away until she doesn't do it. It might not be polite, but I don't care. I want to know the truth. Apart from that, everything else is good. We spent the last couple of days with our friends. Soon, the time will pass. They can try for a baby once again. It's not like they haven't done it. Well, safely. That's what my friend said. I know Loren wants to have a kid, but she looks desperate. Maybe I think differently, but I don't see not having a kid as a problem. The worst thing that can happen is to adopt one because you can't have your own. It's not that bad. That way, you can make a kid's life happier. I won't do that, but it's still an option for some people. I prefer to focus on myself and my relationship. Luke's birthday is in a couple of weeks. I want to plan something. It has to be simple. For some reason, he doesn't like big celebrations. Even if it's only us, I will make this the best birthday he has ever had. I hope that he will enjoy it.
Today is the day when miss Adams and I will talk. I didn't tell my boyfriend because I knew what he would say. I took his dad's phone number from his contacts and texted him to find out when his wife was home. He told me she had a free day. That is perfect. I called the office and told my boss I didn't feel well today. It's a lie, but it's worth it. I felt guilty and texted Andrew the real reason. He put a laughing emoji on my text but didn't say anything. Hopefully, the conversation will end well.
Usually, Luke and I go to work together. Well, I told him I had an early meeting. Here we go. I said another lie. I went to eat breakfast in a diner. A couple of pancakes will be good. I texted mister Adams to see if his wife was awake. After all, I don't want to wake her up. Otherwise, she will get mad at me. As I was eating, someone got in. That was Sam. I didn't know he had a free day as well. He still works from home, but I thought he was at work. I waved at him, and he came to sit.
- Hey, Abby.
- Hey. I thought you were working.
- I do, but I finished most of my work yesterday. That's why I will take part of the day for myself.
- You mean Sarah and the kids?
- Yes. What about you?
- I took a day off.
- Nice. Where is Luke?
- At work.
- I thought you got a day off because of him.
- No. I will tell you something, but he can't find out, ok?
- My mouth is shut. What is going on?
- I will go and talk with your mom.
- Mom? Abby, I don't think that's a good idea. You know how she is treating you. Are you sure you want to do this?
- Yes. I want to know why she is treating him differently. No offense, but you are like a golden boy in her eyes.
- Don't worry, and I know.
- I don't care what she says about me, but it hurts me when she talks to him like that. She is his mom.
- I didn't have success. Hopefully, you will.
- Well, I won't leave her house until she doesn't tell me everything.
- She will kick you out.
- What?
- If you don't leave, she will kick you out.
- I won't let her do this.
- All I will say is good luck.
- Here you go, mister. The total will be thirty-seven dollars. - the waiter said
- Thanks. Here. Keep the change.
- Thank you. - the waiter said and left
- Ok, I have to go home and feed the kids. Call me if you need something.
- I will. Thank you, Sam.
- No problem. - he said and left
I walked around for an hour. The plan is to visit the woman for lunch. Of course, I will buy some food. That won't help, but I want her to see I'm not that bad. I stopped at one restaurant and took a menu. Let's see what I should get. The meatballs with white sauce look delicious. I will take two times of that and two pieces of the chocolate lava cake. Hopefully, she will like that. I can also buy her a coffee, but it might get cold until I go there. Probably I should take a taxi. That way, the food will still be warm.
I told the waiter what I wanted. The food was ready for half an hour. I paid and called a taxi. It came after five minutes. That was quick. I gave the man the address, and he took me there. I knocked on the door and waited.
- Come in! - I heard miss Adams shouting
- Miss Adams.
- You! What are you doing at my house? Go away. I don't want you here.
- I bought us lunch.
- Us? I won't eat anything made by you.
- I didn't make it.
- Go away.
- Can we talk? Please.
- No. I have nothing to tell you.
- But I do.
- The problem is not mine. Please, leave me alone. Also, take that nasty food with you.
- But you didn't even try it.
- I don't want to. I won't be something I like.
- I bought meatballs in white sauce and chocolate lava cake.
- I'm allergic to that.
- I know you don't like me, but at least take the food.
- Why are you still here? I told you to leave.
- Because I want to know why you treat your son like that. He didn't do anything to you.
- What I do is not your business.
- It is when it comes to Luke.
- No, it's not. Take your things and go.
- I bought this food for you. Don't worry. It's not poisoned. You can eat it.
- I will throw it away, so take it.
- Why?
- I won't eat anything touched by you.
- Hey, I didn't touch the food.
- But you touched the box.
- Seriously? What did I do to you? Tell me. Why do you hate me so much?
- You are annoying and don't listen to anyone.
- Please. Can we have a calm conversation?
- I'm not your friend, so leave.
- He is not that bad. Honestly, he has changed a lot. Luke knows how to take care of the people he loves.
- So?
- So I think you should talk to him and fix everything. He would love that.
- The problem is not mine. I'm not doing anything.
- Now I know why he is so stubborn. You two are the same.
- Say this one more time, and I will kick you out.
- It's true. No matter if you like it or not. Luke looks like you.
- No, Sam looks like me.
- Sam looks like his dad. He is kind and sensitive. The perfect match for Sarah.
- Ok, that is enough. Go away before I call the police.
- What will you tell them? This girl is bothering me. She doesn't stop talking.
- One of my friend's husband is a police officer. Please, don't make me call him.
- Do it. I want to see what he will do.
- Leave!
- No! Not until you tell me everything.
- I won't tell you anything.
- Why?
- You are just like him. No wonder he is dating you. He never had good taste. This boy always had an eye for sluts.
- Excuse me? He has perfect taste. You are the one with the worst taste and the s**t.
- Watch your mouth, young lady. I can fight.
- Do it. Fight me.
- You are playing on my nerves.
- Not only me.
- What?
- What you heard. Let's eat now. We can keep fighting later.
- Who said you could eat at my house?
- Come on. The food is getting cold.
- I'm not eating with you.
- That's your problem. I will suit myself. - I said and walked into the kitchen
I would like to see what she will do. It's visible that this woman won't like me. I won't stay hungry because of her. I was about to take a plate when she grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the house. She threw the boxes with food on me and locked the door. That woman is a pure monster. I can't believe she is the mother of my boyfriend. Soon, mister Adams appeared.
- Abby, why are you outside?
- Because your wife threw me away.
- What?
- Will you give her this food? I wanted to have lunch with her. It looks like that won't happen.
- I don't know what she did, but I'm sorry. Do you want to come in?
- No, thanks. I don't like being called a s**t. - I said and left
With that, I walked home. Miss Adams will probably throw away the food, but I don't care. I can't believe she called me a s**t. I might be many things, but not that. Unlike other girls, I'm not a cheater. I walked home and went into my room. I might take a nap. This woman took all my energy. Luke was right. It was a mistake. No, I can't give up. I have to keep fighting with her.
I woke up and checked the time. It was 6 pm. Luke should be home soon. I saw a message from Sam. Shortly, I explained to him what had happened. He wasn't surprised.
- Abby Lee! If you don't come out right now, I will come in! You don't want this to happen.
- Hey, you are home.
- I am.
- Why are you looking at me like that?
- Like what?
- Mad.
- Because I'm furious. I told you a million times not to go there.
- Go where?
- Don't play games with me. I know you went to see my mom.
- How do you know?
- Dad told me.
- Of course.
- Abby! We talked about this. Why don't you, for once, listen to me?
- I am listening to you.
- No, you're not. That is not your problem. Please, don't mess with it.
- All I wanted was to help.
- Yes, and what you did. Nothing. She threw you away.
- How much do you know?
- Everything. Dad has talked with my mom. She told him what she had done.
- I.
- From now on, I forbid you to go there.
- You can't do that.
- Yes, I can.
- Why?
- Because I don't want her to call you names. Abby, I care about you.
- I know.
- I don't want you to get hurt.
- I'm not. I mean, not from what she said.
- Hold on! What did she say?
- Nothing.
- Abby!
- She called me a s**t, ok?
- What?
- Please, don't get mad. I'm over it.
- She will pay me for this.
- That's what hurts me. I don't care what she calls me. It hurts me that you two keep fighting. I want you to have good relations with your mom. Is it that much?
- Don't you see it's impossible?
- You can do it if she doesn't make the first move.
- Are you crazy? I won't please this woman. If she wants to talk to me, she has to come.
- You two can't keep arguing forever.
- I'm warning you, Abby. Stay away from this. Otherwise, you might lose me.
- What? What do you mean?
- Exactly what you are thinking about. - Luke said and went into our room
Please tell me he doesn't mean it. I can't lose him. What will I do without him? That is not possible. I won't permit it. I walked into our bedroom and saw him on the bed. He was about to get up, but I didn't let him. I sat on his lap and kissed him. This boy is mine, and I don't share him with anyone. He will understand it once and forever. I don't care how many times I have to remind him. Luke wanted to pull away, but I didn't let him. He wants to play the mad guy, but that won't happen. Not until I am here. I took off his shirt and wrapped my legs around his waist. It's not the most comfortable position, but I don't care. I will make him regret what he said. Things quickly got heated. I don't plan to do the full one, but we'll see how it goes. As I see it, he likes that. He was about to go for my pants when I pulled away.
- What the? Abby!
- It hurts. Doesn't it?
- It's not funny.
- Neither are you. If you think you can get rid of me, you are wrong. I'm not going anywhere. You are free to do it.
- The house is mine. I'm not going anywhere.
- So do I.
- Fine.
- Cool.
- I'm sorry.
- I don't care. It's too late to apologize.
- Abby. Please, don't be like that. You know I love you.
- I won't be so sure.
- What? It's true.
- Really?
- Yes. I love you more than anything. You know that. I am doing everything you say without thinking. You are the only girl I want to be with. There is no other like you. I have messed up many times, but you don't care. Otherwise, you would've been somewhere else. Please don't talk like that. We both know the truth. You love me too. I see it. Please, Abby. I will do anything.
- Anything?
- Yes, anything.
- I want you to talk with your mom.
- Not that.
- You said anything.
- Ok, ok. I will do it one day.
- When?
- I don't know.
- We'll do this together, ok?
- Yes. Thank you, and I'm sorry.
- It's ok. You have the luck that I love you.
- I know. I love you, too. - he said and kissed me
Luke and I made dinner together. That is one of the things I like. As I have said, I will use all the time I have to be with him. Call it obsession, but I don't care. He is mine, and I can do whatever I want with him. No one can take this boy away from me. I won't permit it. The talk with his mom might not have been successful, but I won't give up. I will give her some time. We'll talk to her again. I'm sure Luke wants to know the truth as well. There is a reason why she is acting like that. The thing is that no one knows it. I hope that one day, she will change and be like a real mom to my boyfriend. He deserves it.
