Chapter eighteen - Family talk

2738 Words
Luke's POV: It has been a month since miss and mister Lee lived at home. Things have been good. Her dad might ignore me, but at least we don't argue. I don't know what is going on with him. He looks worried. Abby noticed this as well. She tried to talk to him, but he didn't say anything. I have no idea what is going on with him. We thought it could be something about the house, but no. Miss Lee has talked with the workers. Everything is going according to plan. Some things should be done, but that won't take much time. Well, the workers are checking the whole place. There might be something else for repair. That's something you never know. I wanted to talk with mister Lee but gave up. If he is not in the mood, he won't do it. After all, I don't want us to start fighting again. I believe we can sort out our problems. The question is when. I don't think that will happen soon. Besides that, everything else is good. Two days ago, Sarah and Sam came for dinner with the kids. Well, miss Lee was playing with Bailey all the time. It's visible that she wants us to have kids. Sadly, that won't happen. Abby and I agreed not to talk about this anymore. This topic is closed. My brother is free to have as many kids as he wants. I think Sarah is the one who loves being pregnant. I'm not saying it's that bad, but it's tiring. I know how much pain pregnant women go through. I don't know how she deals with this. That is one of the reasons why Abby doesn't want to get pregnant. The list is long. Well, that is our problem. I wonder when I will have dinner with my parents. I don't see it happening soon. I can talk to my dad, but he can't do anything. Mom is the problem. Sam can speak to her about this again, but she won't listen to him. I already know it. My brother will waste his time. He already has a lot of things to do. I hope that this won't be forever. I woke up half an hour ago. It's only 8:30 am. I don't need to get up that early. Also, Abby is snuggled in me. If I move, she will wake up. I will let her sleep for a while. I checked my phone. There were no new messages. It's not like I expect them. No one will text me so early. I have to make breakfast as well, but that can wait. If Abby doesn't wake up, I will order something. I won't let miss Lee cook. She can do this at her house. Here, I am in charge of the food. I looked next to me on the bed and smiled. So many years have passed, but she is still with me. There were times when I thought she might leave. We never argued, but living alone wasn't easy. Luckily, nothing like this happened. If Abby leaves me one day, I will stop believing in love. She is the only girl with who I want to be, and I'll do everything possible to keep her close to me. This girl is mine, no matter what happens. I kissed the top of her head and started playing with her hair. Soon, she woke up and looked at me. I didn't say anything and kissed her. She came on top of me and laid down. - I see you are in a good mood. - I said - Well, you are here. How can I feel bad? - If I annoy you enough. - No matter what you do, I will never get mad at you. Do you want to know why? - Why? - Because there is something called perfection. That applies to you. - Can I know who lied to you? - No one. I saw it with my eyes. You are not perfect because no one is. Well, for me, you are. You don't need to be good at everything. The fact that you do all these things for me is enough. No one cared for me so much. That is one of the reasons why I love you so much. The list is long. - Abby said, chuckling - I don't know what to say. So to don't repeat what you said, I'll say thank you for staying with me all this time. Life wasn't easy, but you made it look like that. I appreciate all the hard work you do every day. - Thank you. Let's make breakfast. - Are you hungry? - Maybe I am. - Ok, let's go. Abby and I changed, made the bed, and went to the kitchen. The breakfast was ready in thirty minutes. Abby went to check on her parents. I was about to go to my room when I heard the doorbell. It was Sam. - Hey, come in. - Thanks. I won't be here for long. - You can stay as long as you want. - Oh, hey, Sam. - Abby said - Hello to you too. - How are the kids? - miss Lee asked - They are good, thanks. I think. Baily wants to play with you again. - I would love to. Bring her here. - If you want, you can take Abby and spend the day with Sarah. - That is a great idea. - What about me? - I asked - That's why I'm here. - Is there a problem? - Dad wants to talk with us. I know what you will say, but please give him a chance. He is trying to fix everything. - It's too late for this. - If not for him, do it for me. I have always been on your side. - So? This won't change anything. Mom is stubborn. - You are the same. Whether she likes it or not, you two look alike more than you think. - Tell her this, and she will kill you. - I did. Many times. Everyone knows it. Your personalities are the same. - Don't compare me with my mom. I am a better person. - She is not that bad. Let's say that she needs to share more. We can't help her if we don't know the problem. - I agree here. Someone needs to make her talk, and that is you. - Abby said, looking at me - What? No way! - She doesn't like you, which will make her spill it out. - Why were you here again? - I asked Sam - To convince you to come and talk with my dad and me. - Fine, but he has an hour. I already have plans. - Do they include me? - Abby asked - Maybe. - Go. You can't keep avoiding him. - I can. - No, you can't. Please, do it for me. - Ok, ok. I will go. - Thanks. - Sam said We ate our breakfast peacefully. I'm not going without eating anything. Sam said he would drop miss Lee and Abby at his house. We stayed with them for a while. I have offered mister Lee to go with them, but he denied it. I guess he will stay at home. It's not like I mind. He can do whatever he wants. After an hour, we left the girls, and Sam took us to a restaurant. I thought we would talk at home. It looks like he didn't tell my mom about that, either. He can't keep hiding it from her. She will understand and get mad. Well, the problem is not mine. - Hey, dad. - Sam said - Hey, Sam. I'm glad you brought Luke with you. - You have one hour. - I see. Do you want something? It's almost lunchtime. - I had breakfast two hours ago. - Ok, then. - Can you tell me what is going on and why I am here? - I want a favor from you. - No chance. - You don't even know what I will say. - I don't care. I'm not doing anything for you and my mom. - Will you at least listen to me? - Fine. What do you want? - I want you to talk with her. - What? - She doesn't want to listen to Sam or me. You are the only one who left. Also, you two are not that different. - Will everybody stop comparing me with this woman? We don't look alike at all. - Maybe not on the outside, but on the inside, you are the same. - Sam said - Seriously? - Please, Luke. Listen to dad. Abby told you the same. Mom is mad at you. That will make her say everything has been bothering her for so long. - Why do I have to be the fixing person? - Because you are the only one who doesn't want to do anything. Unlike you, I tried to talk with her. - If I do it, she will keep telling me the same things as usual. Also, she hates Abby. - She doesn't hate Abby. Your mom is doing it because of you. If you talk with her, we'll know what the problem is. - dad said - What if I say no? - Then the drama will continue for who knows how long. I know you want to understand the truth. - Sam said - I wanted. Not anymore. - Come on. I know you. Please. - Let me think. Um, no. - Stop acting like a kid who is avoiding the problem. That won't help you. - Mom wanted you to be her copy, but my dad won. - Well, I have my genes. - dad said, chuckling - Please, think about this. - Sam, even if she tells me everything, nothing will change. This woman won't say a good word about me. - You can't be sure. - Ok, let's make it like that. I will try once. If she refuses to tell me anything, I'm giving up. - It sounds good to me. When will you do it? - I don't know. Lately, I have been busy. I will find some time, but I don't know when. Not in the next two weeks, for sure. - Luke. - No, Sam. Leave him. We already asked for too much. I appreciate the help. - dad said - I'm not doing anything else. - That is more than enough. Thank you. - We'll see how it goes. I can't promise you anything. - I'm glad that you will try. - Ok, let's eat now. I'm getting hungry. - Sam said We ordered food and waited for it to come. I understand why everyone wants me to talk with my mom, but I can't. I don't want her to keep telling me the same things to my face. It hurts sometimes. Also, she hates my girlfriend. Abby didn't do anything to her. I get it if the problem is in me, but she can't involve her in this. Hopefully, the talk will be successful. If not, I am giving up. I don't want to mess with this woman anymore. Soon, our food came. Abby cooks better, but that is good, too. I let her make dinner last night as well. She has finished her part of the project. My girlfriend is cute when she's in a good mood. Probably, she is playing with the kids or annoyed that her mom and Sarah talk about this in front of her. After lunch, we went to check on the girls. They were drinking coffee in the living room. I carefully walked behind Abby and wrapped my hands around her. - Are you annoyed? - I asked, whispering - Oh, hey. No. I'm good. - Are you sure? - Yes. They don't talk about this in front of me. - Good. I'm here to take you home. - I would love that. - What about your mom? Will she come? As I see it, she liked the kids. - She did. Mostly with Bailey. - Miss Lee, will you go home with us? You can stay here if you want. - Thanks, but we spent enough time here. Sarah needs to rest. - Oh, no. You can stay. Since Abby will be gone, we can talk about babies. - I'm gone. Bye. - Abby said and got up - Ok, we'll go. Miss Lee, feel free to come home whenever you want. - I might steal her for dinner. - Sarah said - That's your choice. - I said and left Abby and I walked home. The house was empty. Probably, her dad went to check on the house. In that case, we can play some games. I picked her up and took her to the bedroom. I laid her down to see what she would do. Nothing. I can wait all day, but that won't be necessary. She grabbed my shirt and pulled me close. I like where this is going. We don't have much time for such things with her parents. I don't want them to think we are trying for a baby. Sometimes, we like to have fun. I don't see anything wrong with that. Also, both of us are safe. Abby always keeps her pills on the nightstand in case something happens. Up to now, everything has been good. There were no accidents. Thank god for that. Soon, we got carried away. It was visible that would happen. In my defense, it's not every day when you can do this. The other reason is that you will get bored. Abby pulled away, and I looked at her. If you are not careful, you can get lost. - Round two? - I can't. You took all my energy. - What a shame. I wanted to have fun with you. - Wasn't that enough? - When is the next time when we'll do it? - I don't know. Probably, it won't be soon. - See? - Ok, ok. I want to take a shower. If you are a good boy, you can come with me. - Really? - Yes. It's a shower, ok? - I get it. Of course, that was a lie. There was a round two in the shower. Abby will need a pill. It's not like she minds. As long as there are no consequences, everything is good. Soon, we walked out, dressed, and laid on the bed again. - Well? - That was good. - Pill? - Yes. It's needed. - I'll bring you water. - No need to. I always keep a bottle here. In case I am too lazy to go to the kitchen. - You have thought of everything. - Yes, I did. - Is one pill enough? - Yes, it is. No matter how many rounds we have. Well, it's one pill every time we do it. - So if we do it again tomorrow, you should take one. - Yes. - That is too complicated. - I am a girl. What do you expect? - I'm happy to be a boy. - I'm sure you have your struggles as well. - Maybe. I don't know. - But I do. You can't resist me. - True. - Now I want a nap. If you move, I will kill you. - Yes, ma'am. - Good. I love you. - I love you too. After our nap, Abby and I went to make dinner. Mister Lee was at home. I guess his wife will be with Sarah. It's not like we mind. She can't stay at home all the time. We served the food and sat down. Only his body was here. I don't know what is going on. Lately, he has been worried. Maybe there are problems with the house. We can help, but I don't think he will let us. Especially me. Let's say that we still haven't fixed our relations. That will happen as well. I have other things in my head now. Mom is one of them. I promised to talk to her. The thing is that I don't want to do it. I hope that when this happens, she will listen to me. That's all I want.
