Prologue
Zoie sat in the chair in silence as she tried to avoid looking at the man sitting across from her. She could recall the moment the man dropped the news on her. She didn’t believe it, he repeated it, and she passed out. Awakening, Zoie saw that she was not in her room nor did she see the two ladies that she grew up with. Instead, she was welcomed by a man wearing a dark suit as he led her towards this room.
The room Zoie had awakened in was extremely large with tall black walls and a large chandelier hanging from the ceiling. There was nothing in the room other than the bed and a small table in the corner of the room next to a beautiful large window. However, the window was closed and covered by red drapes. Zoie didn’t have the chance to look around either because immediately a knock caught her attention and a man demanded that she step out of the room.
Lucifer sat across from Zoie with a small smile on his face. Incredibly, the young lady looked guiltless. She didn't seem like she'd hurt anybody as she apprehensively checked out the room yet Lucifer knew to never pass judgment on a book by the cover. Making a sound as if to speak, Lucifer looked as Zoie gradually gazed at him.
"Welcome Home, Zoie!" Lucifer declared. "You're here in Hell."
Rather than hearing a reaction, Lucifer was welcomed with a similar awkward quietness. She actually looked anxious as she breathed out an insecure breath. Lucifer murmured intensely as he shook his head.
"You're immortal now so I thought it'd be ideal in the event that you'd get back home and start your obligations as the seventh sin." Lucifer uncovered. "I'm your dad, Zoie. There is no need for you fearing me."
"Obligations? Father? You can't in any way, shape or form accept that I'll just totally surrender my life effectively?" Zoie asked — in spite of the fact that it was murmured, Lucifer heard her clearly.
"You have carried on with your life on Earth. It's the ideal opportunity for you to live it here at this point." Lucifer replied. "I'm certain you realize that your mom and I had some kind of relationship that resulted in you so I shouldn't clarify how I am your dad."
“You kidn*pped me.” Zoie mumbled.
“You passed out and we decided to bring you home.” Lucifer replied.
“I’m sure my sisters or my mother didn’t want this. I didn’t even want this. Therefore, I will say that you kidn*pped me.”
“Alice knew this would happen so she did not fight as much as you’d like her too but she did try to take your place, Simone tried but she failed tremendously, and Kira really wanted you gone.” Lucifer announced with a chuckle. “The child did not hesitate to use her powers on Simone either.”
“What?” Zoie found herself asking. Looking up, Zoie stared angrily at her father as he sat there with a soft smile on his face. “Kira gave me away?”
For the first time, Lucifer saw Zoie as the powerful and frightening individual that many had witnessed. Her eyes had changed from brown to completely black which made Lucifer sit up in interest. Zoie’s grip around the arm rest of the chair caused it to snap as she continued to stare at him angrily. Snickering, Lucifer applauded.
"There it is! I at long last perceive how incomparable you are." Lucifer expressed. "I'd say you are father's greatest creation."
"Release me." Zoie requested.
"Unfortunately, I won't do that." Lucifer answered prior to standing.
"I would prefer not to remain here! This isn't what I needed!" Zoie shouted.
“Do you think I care about what you want?” Lucifer hissed. “You are to reside in Hell.”
“Why?” Zoie yelled as she stood from the chair. “There is no purpose for me or any of the other deadly sins to be here! You’re the ruler of Hell so why are we needed? I had a life on Earth and I want to stay there!”
"Are you sincerely attempting to test me at the present time?" Lucifer asked with a laugh. “You think that you can challenge the devil?”
“Absolutely.” Zoie answered. Zoie’s eyebrows raised in fascination as a smile made its way across her face. Knowing that Zoie enjoyed harming, Lucifer found himself smiling at her.
"Well played." Lucifer answered. "You'll stay here as I expressed before."
Zoie looked as Lucifer left her and walked towards the door. Murmuring intensely, Zoie knew that she needed to get away and she would refuse to go down without a battle. Nonetheless, the man was the Devil and could overwhelm her in a second. Realizing that she did not understand how to get in or out of Hell, Zoie chose to think of another arrangement. Feigning exacerbation, Zoie turned towards the man known as her father.
"What about an arrangement?" She proposed. Lucifer froze similarly as his huge hand contacted the door handle. Gradually, he pivoted and folded his arms with a raised eyebrow.
"An arrangement?"
"Indeed." Zoie answered. “You let me go and if I do something that you do not like then you bring me back here and I will stay here with no questions asked.”
Lucifer shook his head at his daughter’s suggestion. She was completely oblivious to the fact that he could use the deal against her and immediately bring her back to Hell just as she arrived back to Earth simply because he did not like the thought of her going back to her old life. However, there was something about the girl that made him pity her. She was his daughter and he would do anything to make her happy. Realizing that he would now let her go but wanting to tease her for a bit, Lucifer lied.
"What about we do it like this." He began.
"I'm tuning in."
“I take away your immortality and give you the life of a mortal. When you die, you are to immediately report back to Hell where you will remain for eternity.” Lucifer finished. “That is our deal and that’s final.”
Zoie remained there briefly as though she was in profound thought prior to gesturing her head in understanding. "Fine."
Lucifer nodded. “You’ve just made a deal with the devil, daughter. You will return to Earth as a mortal.”
Zoie said nothing else as Lucifer raised a hand and a bright white light surrounded her before darkness engulfed her. Lucifer watched as Zoie disappeared and the door opened behind him. Still smiling to himself, Lucifer ignored Beelzebub who stood behind him in confusion.
"For what reason did you do it, Lucifer?" Beelzebub asked as he leaned against the wall.
"She challenged me." Lucifer answered.
"Alright? I challenge you." Beelzebub prodded.
"I'm abnormally defensive of the young lady. Whatever she will need from me then I will offer that to her." Lucifer uncovered, making Beelzebub gaze at him in stun.
"You deceived her." He expressed. "You said that you'd remove her immortality however you didn't."
“I would not take that away from her. I’d feel better knowing that she would never die being amongst the mortals and more of her kind.” Lucifer answered. “Instead, I took away her memories of us so she will live her life the way that she wants.”
"What do you guess the others would say or think?"
"I couldn't care less about their conclusions." Lucifer answered prior to leaving the room.
