Chapter 9

"Welcome to Palaestra's training grounds" The guard mounted at the entrance said.

"Thanks"

"Wow, it's so big!" Mirana complemented.

The place was so large and was divided into three sections. The novice section i.e those who just touched the source., the intermediary section i.e those who have learnt the basics and the elite of the elites. Inside these sections they're subdivided into four classes. The combat, the healers, the maintenance and the information gathering.

"It seems you three are new here, I'm just seeing your faces for the first time"

"W-well yeah, we just arrived yesterday"

"Oh, I see, so you'll be in the novice section so you can learn the basics" he then directed them to the novice section.

In the novice section, they were very few, about 7 of them.

"Are we that few for the novices?'Alen asked.

"Well yeah, I mean not everyone touches the source and it depends wholly on the year's intake" the guard explained.

"I don't feel so good about this" Seren complimented.

"Don't worry, you'll do just fine. Let me get your homeroom teacher"

The guard walked towards the 'staff room' to call their homeroom teachers.

"Um Sir Minato, you have newbies" The guard brought the news to the homeroom teacher. The homeroom teacher walked out to see the new students.

"So who are the new brats that just got laid?" He asked.

Minato Kiyumizu, age 29, a japanese and a creepy cold homeroom teacher for the novices.

"U-um nice to meet you sir, my name's Ale--" Alen hadn't completed his statement before Minato raised his hand to cut him off.

"I don't need your ass names, just show me what you've got" Minato said as he removed his jacket.

"What's he doing?"

"Duel with me, I say" Minato ordered.

"What!!" They shouted in surprise, they hadn't expected that.

"But we just touched the source and we can't even control it" Alen explained.

"None of my business"

He said as he charged forward toward them.

"Ugh, you leave me no choice" Alen said as he brought out his gun and fired at Minato

"Wait, you still have that with you??" Seren asked looking surprised.

"Of course, in case I am driven to a corner" Alen fired three more shots.

"I must say, you have a backbone, but you've got no experience"

The bullets never touched him.

"How is that possible??

He then blew the bullets backwards.

"Oh, I see, he's a wind user" Seren analyzed the situation.

Minato waved his fingers and they were blown backwards.

"Aah, what the hell??"

Mirana unconsciously created a wall of ice to block his wind.

"Wow, as expected of the crystal glory even when she can't control it"

"How'd you---"

"Information flies pretty fast isn't it?" He said as he advanced towards her and knocked her out

"How dare you!!" Alen raced forward and created spears as he sends them to Minato.

"Wow, impressive. You've finally shown me what you're made of but you'll need more than that ro defeat me" Minato disappeared at an instant and hit Alen from behind.

He then turned to Seren.

"Aren't you doing anything or are you just gonna watch them go down?"

"Nah, I'll pass" Seren said as he yawned.

"And why is that?"

"It's not as if you'll kill them if I didn't do anything"

"With that attitude, I'm sure Dante would be disappointed as hell. You're a waste"

"What did you say??"

Seren out of anger unconsciously broke the pillar that stood nearby into bits and blasted them towards Minato.

"Now that's what I wanted to see"

Minato contained the earth bits and sent them back to Seren, knocking him unconscious.

"Assessment complete" He said as he wore his jacket.

"Um, Minato sensei, you need to loosen up, I mean they're just newbies who don't even know how to control and use their power" The guard advised.

"If I'm soft on them, they'll never get stronger. My aim is to produce the newbies worthy of challenging the elites"

"But with your methods, many novices have dropped out of the combat session, they're either in maintenance, healing or information gathering section"

"And who cares about those weaklings? They're not worthy because they've been presented with how weak they are and instead of owning up and be frustrated at their weakness to increase their strength, they run away from their weaknesses and that's the most stupid option ever. I'm waiting to see their response" He said as he walked past their unconscious bodies.

"But it'd be a waste if these three run away, considering their strength" The guard said as he raised Seren up.

"Hey Minato, help me with them will you? After all, they're in this state because of you"

"What??, but I'm tired"

"No buts, help me carry them will you"

Minato carried Mirana while the guard signaled his colleague to carry Alen to the infirmary.

"Ouch, it hurts" Seren opened his eyes holding his head.

"Oh you're awake, to be honest I was worried that due your weakness you'd never wake up" Minato commented.

"Where are my friends?"

"Over there" Minato pointed to where Mirana and Alen lay.

"The guy had already woken up before so he's

good. Although crystal glory hasn't moved a muscle since she was admitted, with time she'll come around" Minato said as he sat down with his legs crossed.

"Thank goodness"

"What is there to thank?, I mean you guys were totally useless against me. You couldn't even land a punch on me talk more of giving me a cut. You guys are waste"

"Don't worry, I'll beat you soon"

"I have a question"

"Please go on"

"What drives you past your breaking point?" Minato asked.

"I have a brother to save, and I must do so even if it kills me, so your training out there is nothing that'll break me and I'm sure they feel the same way. Right guys?"

"On point"

"That's true"

Minato turned around, Mirana and Alen were already awake.

"You guys are the worst set I've assessed but also the strongest in the heart. Classes start by 8 tomorrow don't be late coz your first lesson is important"

"Which is??"

"Learning to touch the source. Don't be late" Minato stood up to leave.

"You haven't told us how you knew everything about us, I mean how did you know about Dante?" Seren asked.

"Oh that, I am a member of the elite information gathering team so every info that the saints have are provided by my team"

"Wow, that's awesome " Mirana said.

"Thanks, see you guys tomorrow'" Minato said as he left the room.

"Finally, I'll begin to use my power" Alen boasted.

"Finally, we're at the starting line" Seren said before laying back to sleep.
