ANTONIA’S POV
“Please, please stop!" Antonia begged, her voice low and rough from all the shouting she had been doing for the past hour or so.
She had woken up to find herself being hauled by her husband. Her scalp stung with pain as his rough hands dragged her by her hair across the dirty ground.
"Let go of my hair! You bastard!" Antonia cursed as one last burst of strength erupted inside her.
Sticking her legs to the ground, she thrashed against the hold of her husband.
“Shut up!" He groaned as he pushed her to the ground and she landed on knees.
“Here she is!"
Blinking, Antonia looked around her.
"Ah!" A scream tore through her sore throat as she crawled back at the sight before her.
Her heart raced as there were some more bodies in front of her.
“Wh-what have you done?!” Her voice shook as she looked up at the monster before her.
Evans glared at me, his shoulders twitching as he said, “It's time to pay your dues!”
“What do you mean? You were supposed to protect my pack!!” That's why I married you!”
Shaking her head, she wiped the tears on her cheeks as she spat “Evans, You crazy fool! How could you kill my packmates? You lowlife monster!”
“Huh?” Evans tilted his head to the side as his lips twitched in amusement, “It looks like you've been waiting to curse me out. "Weren’t you the quiet, obedient b***h?”
Her hands went to the back of her head where she had been hit. Bringing her hand forward, she saw blood on her fingers.
She needed to escape from this animal.
Blinking the dizziness away, she glanced around the unfamiliar hut that had no roof.
Her brows furrowed as she noticed some kind of altar with mysterious designs and empty shelves “What place is this?”
“The place of your death,”
“What?” She snapped her head towards him, but it was his hands she saw coming towards her. It was too late to dodge it.
Thwack!
His blow connected to her head and sent her crashing to the floor. Her head hit the ground with a loud thud.
The little strength she had gathered seeped out as she remained on the ground.
“Good. Stay there. You're not good for anything.” Evans started as he walked towards a shelf.
“Your father sold you to me at a debt with this failing pack! You've been nothing but a burden to me,”
“That is until some months ago,” he paused as he walked back towards her.
“But finally,” he squatted beside her, cupping her chin with fingers and forcing her to look at him.
"Finally, you can be of good use to me, wifey.”
“What are you talking about?” She squeezed out, blinking as blood dripped down her face and into her eyes, “ You already killed everyone,”
“Yes. Because it was necessary,” he stated.
“Oh don't look at me like that. I even did what you couldn't do. I went the extra mile for you.”
Looking down, he grabbed a bag and turned it over.
Her eyes widened as a severed hand with a unique black ring on one of its fingers fell to the ground.
“I was supposed to get the head, but I beat him so badly he wasn't recognizable,” Evans continued, before turning to look at her “But you recognize him?”
“Why? Why would you kill Wilson?” She stammered as she shook her head slowly at the sight.
He wasn't even part of her pack. If Evans hated her, why would he go so far—
“No wifey. Don't ask that.” Evans' words cut through her thoughts, “You did this. You were going around my back with your fated mate,”
“He was a friend!” She screamed, her throat hurting, "I rejected him for you! I- we weren't doing anything!" her voice cracked as she tried to sit up, "Why-- "
“Well, it doesn't matter,” he stood to his feet, “Not when I know what good use you are now,”
Cluk cluk cluk.
A ticking sound came from behind her.
“Is she the one?” A male’s voice rang out.,
“Yes, of course. Did you bring it?” Evans asked, his voice filled with desperation.
“Yes, I did. But, how sure are you that she is a white wolf?”
“I told you! She finally shifted when her father died,” Tilting his head, he looked down at her, “Or should I say when I killed him?”
Antonia's heart stopped at his words.
“That piece of s**t father finally did something good after he died. Oops, I mean, after I killed him.” He corrected.
“What?” A ringing sound pierced through her ears as she struggled to sit up, "You did what?"
“Shut up!” Evans yelled as he sent his leg flying towards her stomach, kicking her down.
“Ugh!” she groaned.
"He was too damn nosy, and was getting suspicious. "Getting rid of him was the best thing I had done." Evans confessed.
Hot fury rose within Antonia as she called on her wolf, but there was no response.
“Then, she is the special one,” the stranger commented.
Heavy footsteps drew closer to her, but she couldn't lift her head, “And she's only twenty-one?”
“Yes. We were married for a year. Felt like an eternity in hell,”
“f**k you!” She spat out.
“Yeah? You couldn't even do that properly,” Evans chuckled. “It was annoying, but her father's death was the catalyst that caused her shift.”
“Then, let's get the altar ready.” The stranger said, “She needs to shift though.”
“You heard him,” Evans glared at her, “Shift!”
“I can't. I can't control it!” She let out a chuckle, “And if I could, I would never,”
“Whatever,” Evans walked away.
He returned with a white sword in his grip. Her brows furrowed as she looked at it—She knew that sword.
“Yes, you are sacrificing your life to give me what I want, wifey. You should be happy.”
“You bastard!!” She cursed as more strength seeped out from her body.
“Stop! We have to wait till the light of the full moon reaches her." The stranger warned.
“It's a cloudy night. I can't wait,” Evans fired back as he raised the sword above his head.
“We have to do this right!” The stranger yelled.
Antonia’s brows furrowed as the voice sounded familiar, but her mind felt too foggy to recall where.
Focusing on her husband, she growled, "I curse you, Evans Friedrich. One way or another, I'll make you pay for this evil!”
“That's never going to happen,” he replied and thrust the sword deep inside her stomach. As if that wasn't enough, he twisted it until her blood pooled around her.
"Finally, power!" Evans exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement.
Bright light erupted from her body as pain slashed her body and life left her.
‘Aroooo,’ Her wolf, which she had only seen about two times in her lifetime howled weakly in her mind.
“Oh, goddess,” she prayed silently as she looked up at the full moon shining behind a cloud.
“If you could just give me one chance,” her vision dimmed as everything turned black, “I would—”
"Tonia! Tonia!"
Antonia’s eyes flew open as she gasped awake. Blinking, she saw a pair of familiar eyes staring down at her.
“Gosh! If you don't want to celebrate your birthday, just tell me. Running away isn't the answer.”
Her voice broke as she said, “F-father?"
“That's very bad behavior, Tonia,” He cautioned.
‘Was this heaven?’ she wondered.
Her brows furrowed as her lips quivered. Tears brimmed in her eyes as she stretched out her hand.
“But–” she paused as she looked at her hand.
Why was her hand so short?”
“Honey?” Her father called, his voice soft, “Did you have a bad dream?”
Blinking, she turned and looked at her surroundings.
Her brows rose slowly as she realized she was under a tree while her father was crouching before her.
She knew this scene.
“Birthday?” She asked. Even her voice sounded young.
Sighing, her father tilted his head, “Yes. You only turn thirteen once. Come on, I'll cancel the party okay. Let's go back.”
“Daddy!” She let out a cry and pounced on him, her arms going around his neck as deep cries rocked her body.
“It's okay, honey, I'm here.” Her father patted her back and rose to his feet.
“Were you scared? I'll carry you in my arms if you want.”
With her fingers, she pinched her arm and flinched at the pain.
This was real. She had returned to the past.
“You're not going to fight me? Aren't you a big girl?” Her father teased her.
“No,” her voice cracked , “I'm d@ddy's little girl,” she murmured as she tucked her head into her father's shoulders.
“What do you want to eat? I had them prepare ….”
She closed her eyes as she listened to her father talking. His voice was like a sweet calm to her soul.
The goddess had heard her.
Clenching her fist tightly, she decided. This time around, she wouldn't get married. She had to find a way to save her father, her pack and herself without any external help.
This time would be different. This time, she would change things.
