Elena's POV-
When I saw him for the first time I didn't quite know what to do. I was frozen.
I couldn't tell if I was scared or exhilarated.
He was handsome. Handsome like he just floated down from heaven, an angel in disguise.
All I could think to do was run, letting him see me even for a second was a mistake.
He could have died, and I couldn't let myself be the cause of that.
"What are you doing?" Ember screamed, so loud my head was going to explode.
"I'm running away, what does it look like, I will not let myself become a murderer," I fought back.
"The whole reason we are here in these woods is so that won't happen,"
"You seriously don't get it, do you?" She replied in a somewhat annoyed tone.
"Get what?"
"He is your mate. Didn't you feel the pull?"
"Ember even if he is, I am not going to kill him just so that I can see him,"
"But-"
"No means no Ember and that's the end of it, period."
I continued to speed through the trees until I reached the tower climbing back up, as I did every day, as nothing happened.
Except it did. That fact was not lost on me, my thoughts, or Ember.
Adrian's POV-
I was so close to running after her, but I didn't, I knew she needed space. And time.
One thing was clear from that moment on, I would give her everything she wanted or needed, so if that meant time or space I would give it to her.
"What are you doing? Go after her!"
"Andy, I know what I am doing,"
And with that comment, I turned back into my wolf and chased the next second, back to the packhouse.
It's on the other side of the woods and that, meant a lot of running.
Three hours if you aren't fast, but I am.
In one hour and a half, I was home.
Being smothered by the head maid, Merilla.
"Where have you been? You said you would be back an hour ago!" She said both worry and agitation present in her voice.
"I'm fine and I just had an extra errand to run that's all," I ensured, kissing her on the cheek and making one step towards my room.
"Don't you even think of lying to me young man!" She yelled so loud I thought people in the North Pole could hear her.
If I am honest I should have seen this coming, Merilla is the only person who could have the courage to yell at me like that, and get away with it.
"Merilla please, I am here and in one piece,"
"I'm tired, can I return to my room and sleep for a few hours," I replied politely continuing to make my way to my sleeping chambers.
"We will continue this conversation later Adrian!" She said before I slammed the door, collapsing on the bed into a deep slumber, with dreams of the beautiful wolf I met today.
P.S This is my first book so thank you for patience.
