BLURB:

Despite not wanting to be in the spotlight and all that comes with it, Sabrina couldn't just avoid getting into such a situation when her father's political dreams began to come through. He was now the Mayor of their state and all the attention, both good and bad, began to come upon her and the members of her family.

So also did she attract the attention of one of the most insidious and disturbing people ever.

Lorenzo. Lorenzo Visconti.

High school had never been terrible for anyone as it was for her ever since this boy set his eyes on her.

The boy was bad news, everyone agreed on that. So why was the bad boy obsessed with her?

Certain things led to several occurrences and Lorenzo ends up going to prison after being arrested on the grounds of stalking and assault by Sabrina's father.

But before leaving, he left Sabrina with a promise which he vowed to keep.

“Until we meet again, mia cara"

It was seven years already and Lorenzo was back, better than before and was no longer the poor, shabby, unkept, unfortunate Lorenzo Visconti.

He was now one of the most eligible bachelors in the country. Self made billionaire CEO of Visconti Securities.

He was now completely changed, except that he hadn't completely.

He hadn't changed his mind about the promise he had made to a certain Sabrina Wood.

He was going to fulfill his promise to her and it was going to be a slow, sweet torture.

Lorenzo Visconti never promises someone and fails. That's bad for business.

But it's seven years later. Would he even meet her again?

Of course he did, not by fate though, by careful strategy.

The big question is, what would happen then, when he sees her again?

Would he be able to successfully carry out his promise or would it eventually fail due to some… unforeseen circumstances?

“Even the darkest of hearts has its light, it's known as grey"

PROLOGUE:
CHAPTER 1: AUTHOR'S POV: Soft footsteps echoed in the dark. So soft it was, it was clear that it was sourced by fear and a hint of something else. Peeping between the little cracks, grasping at anything of hope, clutching at the holes and ridges in the stone walls, were little, frail looking fingers with chipped nails and a bleeding thumb. The owner, a petite girl, tried her best to be as silent as possible. She had just managed to escape from her bondage, she couldn't risk making noise and having to be dragged back into that cruel chair again. Her bare legs , dirty with soil and dust shivered in the cold. Red, ugly spots revealed the fact that the cold was biting her skin. “I can't give up, I have gotten too far to give up" she declared in her head, doing all she could to revive her strength. It was all she could do to keep herself from collapsing from the exhaustion and cold. Finally, she came into the light that was let into the dark corridor by one of the numerous cracks in the walls, from her looks it could be deduced that she wouldn't be over her mid twenties, at most, twenty- eight . Her hair, the otherwise dark brown ringlets were now matted together, in clumpy tangles. Her lips were busted and swollen. Red lines , printed boldly on her fair, olive skin were situated on her wrists where she had been previously bound. The ropes had created an ugly, angry design as a payback for struggling in them. Her once beautiful face was now covered in grime, dirt, dried blood and tears. Her oversized t-shirt fell down on one shoulder and was ripped at the other. Her shorts were now a dirty, torn mess. Unfocused eyes and scared gait. Fear and determination mixed together to create a longing to achieve her aims. Limping, she eventually got to the main entrance. At last. Relief and hope flooded her entire being as she surged forward, no longer aware of the pain in her legs or the biting sensations in her head. Her half blurry vision was now finally beginning to regain a little more clarity. She limped faster and with much more determination like never before, keeping her eyes on her goal. She didn't let the fact that the cold wind was literally eating her thighs and the remainder of her legs deter her neither did the fact that the security alarms had gone off and they were blaring loudly to stop her. I can do this, I would do this. It would only be a matter of time before her captors caught up with her. She had to move faster. She tried her best to avoid being caught by the roaming lights and at the same time reach her destination faster. Eventually, she made it to the big iron bars. All she had to do was get rid of the locks which they had obstinately left open. It was suspicious, but she didn't dwell on that for long as she made to open the gates and get the hell out of the place. She opened the gate and finally stepped out. Thank God. She was finally free. All she had to do now was run away as fast as she could and find somewhere to hide at least till the search for her would have died down. She hadn't even gotten too far when she heard voices behind her, shouting; “There she is, get her" “Ay b***h, she mustn't get away" “s**t" she spat under her breath. She ran and ran for her life. She didn't want to die. Those people looked like they would kill her if her father didn't comply with the terms they had laid down. And her father didn't seem like he would give up his ambitions for her. She was way too trivial to him for him to abandon his dreams for that. But soon, thoughts on how to survive took over her head again. And her options were now looking bad and worse. There was an alley in front of her and her captors behind her. She didn't hesitate as she ran into the alley, even if she knew the kind of dangers that might be awaiting her there. It was better she died in the hands of a stranger than in the hands of those pathetic people. She ran into the bowels of the dark alley, preparing her mind for the worst. She was still running blindly in the dark alley, when she bumped into a dark wall. Or was that a human? She looked up, her heart in her throat at the threatening figure in front of her. It was a man. A very big man. The dark figure turned to her, his face was almost totally covered by the hat he wore. A cigarette dangled from one corner of his lips. The kind of aura he exuded was that of a predator. The silent kind of danger. But despite the glaring red signs and the fact that she couldn't see his face, she said, “Please sir, help me. I just escaped from where I was kidnapped and the kidnappers are after me. Please save me” her voice frantic and shaky with fear. He was silent for a while before he finally opened his mouth, “And why should I do that?" His voice, though deep and husky, still managed to sound smooth like expensive wine to her ears, even in her state. Why should he save her? Because it was the right f*****g thing to do, sir. But she didn't have time for sarcasm, though it laid at the tip of her tongue, besides, the voices of those men were getting closer anyways, “Please sir, I beg you" she pleaded, on the verge of tears, He chuckled, a low deep one, then, " What would I get in return for doing that” " Anything,” she replied in her desperation. He paused for a while, as if still in contemplation, before he finally said, " Anything huh?” Then he proceeded to get rid of his hat and handed it to her. When she looked up, she found herself staring into the stormiest of greys. Like she was staring into angry ,stormy grey clouds instead of his eyes. She weakly accepted the hat from him as he said, “Wait here" his smooth voice instructed, his accent evident framing his words. She didn't say anything or move as he went outside the alley. Soon after, he returned, a smirk on lips. “Done" he announced as he received the hat from her. She didn't bother asking what he had done. All that mattered now was that she was safe. Though not entirely, this guy seemed even much more dangerous than her captors . Especially not with the whole all black outfit s**t he's got going on. She handed the hat to him and watched him as he wore it on his head. She still couldn't get a clear view of his face as much as she wanted to. The shadows kept interrupting with the little light in the alley and some of his hair was covering his face. Light then shifted, casting a reflection on his face, she could now get a clearer view. Hold on. She's seen this face before. Suddenly reminded of the danger she could likely be in, she stepped back. This guy had a kind of vibe that made her wary of him. Besides, his face seemed so familiar… He noticed this but didn't say anything in response. Her fear amused him. When he turned his back to start leaving, she blurted, “Wait" He stopped. Looking over his shoulder he said, “If you want to get out of this place alive, follow me. If not you are welcome to stay exactly where you are" " Do…do you know me? Who are you? I've seen you somewhere before” she said, unable to steady her voice. He then turned to her, the moonlight casting a sort of silver glow on his face. He had a wicked smile on his face. And a very malicious look in those grey eyes of his. Then he said; “I can't believe you've forgotten me that easily, cara mia” Even in her hazy state and her fogged brain, she still recognized that nickname. She could never forget it. She can never forget him, Taking in her shocked expression, he added, “I told you we would definitely meet again, and here we are" She finally was able to get one word out of her lips, “Lorenzo" That was the last word that left her before everything went black.
