Chapter One: Not Rid Of You Yet

2140 Words
Levi Harold had left his ex husband a while ago, he had stayed far away from him and made sure to never contact him again. He had gotten happier as a result. He had married him when Levi was twenty one and his husband was fifteen years old, Levi was unaware of his age at the time so he had no idea he was marrying a minor. Plus, he was taller than him, it was hard to tell whether or not he was a child. Not only that, he was abusive towards him, always calling him an absolute i***t or belittling his interests. It made him feel depressed and unhappy as a result. Yet he stayed with him for over two years. He hated every second of it, he was glad it was over. Yet still, he couldn't forget what had happened to him with that man... He wished he was free of the memories of it, too. Flash forward to now, he hadn't thought about his ex husband for years now due to having a very overstressing job he had to deal with. He had to sign papers, write papers, send letters, and just do everything his boss was too lazy to get around to. He didn't like this job, but it paid the bills so he dealt with it like it was nothing but happiness for him. Plus, when he got enough money, he was planning on becoming an artist. He had so much work he wanted to show the world, but so little money. His boss was no saint either, constantly giving him assignments he was just too lazy to do, and making terrible comments on his appearance. Levi did have a very feminine body for a man, but he didn't like people commenting creepy things about it like "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you'd be a perfect thing to fit on my lap" or "Are you even a man? You're probably one of those... people...". He hated every comment his boss made towards him, but he took it like it was nothing. If he didn't, he would surely be fired for arguing with the literal man that pays him. He'd be homeless and on the streets then, he couldn't deal with that right now. Not in his state of mind. Levi sat up from the computer screen for a minute, pushing his glasses up on his face as he looked at his reflection on the low brightness screen. He had eyebags from working so much, he hardly slept so it was no wonder why he had them. Then he saw someone he hadn't seen in a while walk into the room... His ex husband. Valor Rowan. What had he done wrong in life to deserve this? Valor walked up to the counter as Levi tried to act like he was at least paying half attention to his surroundings, and also pretend he didn't know him. The memories kept coming back to him though, he couldn't get rid of them. They were like a parasite infecting his brain. "Excuse me, I was wondering if you were still highering a logo designer...? I would be happy to give you my resume and some references with it, this is like... my first job so- Wait, Levi....?" His tone was first cheerful and in charge, then his voice and and tone sank when he realized who Levi was. This couldn't be good, Levi didn't want him knowing who he was. "I... um.... I think you have the wrong person." The blond tried to say politely as he gave him a soft smile, just to convince him he had the completely wrong person and this was just an embarassing coincidence. But Valor was determined to know he was right. He grabbed him by the shoulders roughly, looking down at him. "No.... I know it's you. Levi Harold. I know your voice." He seemed proud of his answer, Levi was terrified from being grabbed by him like this again. "Let go of me! Stay away from me!" Levi accidentally had a freak out moment, which got Valor to let go of him due to the surprise of his reaction. He was probably not used to Levi talking to him, let alone yelling at him. "Kyle!" Levi called out for his boss, who was taken back from the yelling as he hurried out there to see what exactly was happening. "What's going on here?" He noticed the weird tension and panicking from Levi, which Levi had never talked to him at all before, now that he thought about it. He saw the the long black haired man in front of the desk, seeming shocked and surprised by Levi's panicked reaction. It took a minute or so for Levi to compose himself back into a calm state from Valor's touch, he went back into his composed and collected self. This was not going to be a good year, the art he looked at online had indeed lied to him about that. "Woah there, I didn't mean to freak you out like that... So sorry, Levi..." He still knew he was, which gave Levi a terrible feeling in his stomach. If he knew who he was, he'd do everything he did in the past again. He couldn't deal with that another time. He would rather anyone else, why did Valor have to show up for this instead? Levi was feeling horribly sick, so he left the desk for a while. Kyle didn't seem to get mad at him over leaving it for once, so that was a pretty good sign he knew something was wrong. Levi took his glasses off and splashed some water onto his face, he looked in the mirror at his disheveled appearance. His dark green eyes gazed back at him, they were sharp yet exhausted right now. His hair was the most kept thing about him, the golden locks were the only thing he took care of nowadays. His jawline was more slim, so it wasn't giving him any luck with seducing any ladies. The eyebags got rid of anything good his appearance had though, he really need to cover them or get rid of his terrible sleeping habits. He remembered why he was panicking in the first place, slight tears balling up as he started having flashbacks to how horrible his life was with Valor. He kept his memories hidden, yet sometimes they appeared just to haunt and torture him. He kept remembering most of the physical things of their relationship, they had never done anything with each other, even if Valor was eager to. Even if Valor wasn't the adult at the time, he grip was still tight and bruise worthy. Plus, he knew he was stronger than him. The physical things were normal for Levi though, they didn't hurt as much as being told to end his life or told how obnoxious and unlovable he was. Valor convinced him for so long that only he could love him, and he was right. Levi had found no one else who loved him like Valor, because no one could be that cruel and unusual to their partner like he could. Levi rid himself from these memories by replacing them with delusion, convincing himself it never happened and he had been single for all of his life. Yet deep down, he knew he could never forget it, it would always be apart of him. It was a stain he could never wash away. He dried up his tears with some of the paper towel they had near the sink, refusing to cry when he spent most of his life keeping his composure and not getting even a small bit irritated. He needed to keep that reputation if he planned on keeping this job for as long as he needed to, even if he did hate it. He left the bathroom, making sure his clothing and hair were straight as he saw both Valor and Kyle chatting up about the job offer Valor heard of. Levi would rather die than work with him, yet he knew he had to. He didn't have a choice if he wanted to continued having this job, his income was at stake here. "Oh, Levi! Looks like you're feeling better. You know, you really shouldn't freak out on potential members for this company. It will scare them off. I'm slightly disappointed in you for doing that." Kyle said so casually yet passive aggressively, Levi hated when he used that tone with him but he had to take it. He was his boss, after all. He nodded rapidly, giving him a slight smile. He had to say compliant to all of this if he wanted to keep this job, though he wished his boss was softer on him throughout it. "Anyways, show mister Rowan around, he is are new logo designer for our company." That was too much, he couldn't be near Valor for that long. It was impossible. Yet he had a duty to do this, so he did as Kyle said and showed him around the building. They got to the roof and Valor seemed to want to strike up a conversation, even if Levi really didn't at the moment. "It's been a long time since we've seen each other, hasn't it...?" Valor said softly, hoping to not cause Levi to freak out again as he watched the birds soar past both of them. Levi just looked up at the sky, hoping he could dissociate and not make much conversation. "Yeah... it has been a while. How have things been...? I'm guessing not very good since you're just now getting a job..." Levi asked in a slightly snarky tone, he was not going to pretend to like or respect him while the boss was away from them. Honestly was the least he could do for himself. "Oh, no. I've had a ton of jobs before this one. That was a complete lie made up so they won't care about my socially awkwardness." Valor explained, which just made his situation seem less traumatic. Levi called it though, Valor had never been a truthful man in his life. This was just the first time he had admitted it to himself. "I figured you were... You never were truthful for once in your life, were you?" Levi knew his words would be taken as aggressive, but he acted like they were casual. Valor just stared at him for a bit, seeming more occupied on the birds behind him than on Levi's comment. Maybe it flew over his head, like the birds. "Thank you for showing me around the building, Levi. I appreciate it a lot." He thanked him and tried to acted genuine and nice to him, Levi did not like this gesture since he knew how he was but he responded to it with a slight nod. His honesty had gone away quickly. They both headed back inside as Levi went back to his desk, Valor seemed to have gained a staring problem because he was just staring at Levi up and down like he was a piece of meat. He was still lustful and disgusting, like he always had been. Levi was disappointed yet not surprised by his behavior. "Don't you have anything else to do?" Levi finally spoke up as he looked down at his computer screen, his glasses falling slightly off as he typed out another few hundred pages for Kyle. This company was a wreck from the start, how did Kyle plan to turn this all around and actually make anything out of it? That man was stranger than any animal Levi had come across outside, that was for sure. Valor nodded slightly, "I probably do, but I would prefer to see what you're doing right now, darling." Levi looked up at him with a slight glare at the name, he didn't deserve to give him any pet names or anything like that. "Don't call me that. You should know better than to call me that." Levi demanded, he was trying so hard to keep his composure but it seemed like Valor just wanted to make everything worse for him like he always did. It was a never ending cycle with that blasted man, he hated him for it too. "I missed you." That comment caught Levi off guard, did he hear that correctly? And from who he thought correctly? "What?" His voice just seemed confused and taken back now, no longer angry but confused by his ex husband's words. "I said I missed you, it has been a long time, you know." He shoots him a smile, suddenly Levi feeling less cold towards him. He would never gain feelings for him again, but maybe he had changed a little bit...
