When I told Scarlet that I had sent her sister to jail, I expected her to want to get Bella out at any cost. I believed in Bella’s innocence, and I thought Scarlet would share that belief. But when she responded so calmly and accepted her sister's situation, it hit me that maybe, deep down, she knew that Bella was capable of committing such a terrible act.
Bella had dug her own grave, and as far as I was concerned, she would never get out of prison. I was certain she could try to harm Scarlet again if given the chance.
Right now, the only thing that mattered to me was Scarlet’s health. I knew she was uncomfortable with the orthopedic boot on her foot, but she would have to wear it for a few more days until she fully recovered.
