Chapter 1
MILLITARY BASE As Miguel patrolled the perimeter of the military base, soldiers of lower ranks snapped to attention and saluted him as he passed by. He had grown accustomed to this life over the past five years. He had achieved the highest rank in the military. As the supreme general, he was both respected and feared, with his authority never questioned. His reputation was earned through numerous victories in the battlefield, which led to his title as the Unstoppable God of War. As he finished his rounds and prepared to return to the barracks, his phone buzzed in his pocket. It was an unexpected call, and when he glanced at the screen, he saw it was from his sister. “Elizabeth…” he whispered. A smile crossed his face; it had been weeks since they last spoke. He quickly answered the call and placed the phone to his ear, expecting to hear Elizabeth’s usual playful greeting. But the moment he heard her voice, the smile on his face vanished. "Brother..." Her voice trembled, filled with fear. He could hear her panting as though she was running from something. “Elizabeth…” "What's wrong?" he asked, his heart pounding in his chest. His sister had always been strong, rarely showing any signs of weakness. "It's... it's Mom and Dad. They're gone. They were forced to commit suicide... they jumped off a building," Elizabeth cried into the phone while still breathing heavily. "What?!" Miguel's voice rose, filled with shock and disbelief. He clenched his left hand tightly, his eyelids squeezing shut for a second or two after hearing the news of his parents’ death. "What do you mean, 'forced'?" Miguel could hear the sound of Elizabeth’s shuffling feet through the phone, it was obvious she was trying to outrun something or someone. Her words came out in a rush, each one more devastating than the last. "Our family company went bankrupt," she continued, struggling to keep her composure. "Your ex-fiancée, Bridget... she betrayed us. She colluded with the Golden Circle, the same ones who conspired against you all those years ago. They divided our family's assets, and... and..." Miguel knew the Golden Circle well—a powerful alliance of four elite families who had long targeted him. Now, they had turned their sights on his family. "And what?" he demanded, his knuckles white as he gripped the phone. At this point, instead of hearing his sister's voice, he began to hear loud noises in the background. "They're coming after me, Brother. They’re going to take me. They said I have to repay a debt of $300 million that we don't even owe them. They plan to traffic me, sell me as a maid,” she said. Her voice broke, and for a moment, there was nothing but silence on the line. Miguel's mind raced, trying to process the information. His parents, dead. His family's legacy, destroyed. His ex-fiancée, Bridget, a traitor. And now, his sister, the only family he had left, was in grave danger. "Where are you?" he asked, his voice deadly calm. "I don't know… I’m hiding in this abandoned warehouse, but they found out, they just arrived at the warehouse! I think they're planning to auction me off," she sobbed, her voice shaking intensely. "Listen to me," Miguel said, forcing himself to stay calm. But before he could say his next word, he heard a loud scream from his sister. “Miguel!!” she screamed into the phone. Miguel's eyes widened when he heard nothing after her scream. There was silence from the other end. “Elizabeth!” Miguel yelled into the phone, but the call had ended. He tried dialing Elizabeth's number again, but the line was switched off. At that moment, he raised his head from the phone and accepted the truth. “They've taken her,” he said through clenched teeth, his eyes turning red with rage. He stormed into the command center, where his most trusted subordinate, Ash, was coordinating the latest operations. Ash was not only a brilliant strategist, but also loyal to Miguel. Her beauty was only surpassed by her sharp mind, and she had served under Miguel since the beginning of his military career. “Ash!" Miguel barked the moment he reached her desk, causing her to turn around immediately. "Sir?" she replied, noticing the urgency in his tone. "I need you to block all major roads leading out of the city. No one gets in or out without my say-so," he ordered with a steely voice. "Sir, may I ask why?" Ash inquired, though she was already moving to carry out his command. "My sister has been kidn*pped by a powerful force known as the Golden Circle. They intend to sell her to repay a fabricated debt," he explained, his jaw clenched in anger. "They’re responsible for my parents' deaths, and now they’re after her." Ash’s eyes flashed with anger. She had heard of the Golden Circle too, their corruption, and their ruthless method of doing things. "Consider it done, sir. I'll mobilize our forces immediately." "Good. I’m heading back to the city to take care of this personally. I want you to coordinate with the troops on the ground and make sure that no one slips through the net." As Ash began issuing orders to block the roads and secure the city, Miguel took a moment to gather his thoughts. Memories of the past came flooding back… Five years ago, his life had been turned upside down by the Golden Circle. They had framed him, setting up a situation that led to him sleeping with a woman he had barely known at the time—Laura. The scandal had spread like wildfire, staining Laura’s reputation and nearly ruining her life. Despite the damage, Laura had chosen to forgive him, recognizing that he was as much a victim as she was since they were both set up. Her forgiveness had saved him from prison, but it had cost him his freedom in another way—he was forced to join the military, where he had made a name for himself as the Unstoppable God of War, becoming the strongest and fiercest leader of all. But none of that mattered now. His parents were gone, and his sister was in danger. The Golden Circle had taken everything from him, and now it was time for him to repay the favor. As he boarded the military helicopter that would take him back to the city, his mind was consumed with thoughts of revenge. The flight back felt agonizingly slow, though in reality, it took only a few hours. As the helicopter descended, Ash’s voice came through his earpiece. "Sir, we’ve located your sister," she reported. "She’s been taken to the Auction House. The auction is set to begin in less than an hour." "Good work, Ash," he replied, his voice was cold as ice. "I’m on my way. Make sure our forces are ready to move in at my command." "Yes, sir," Ash acknowledged. "We’re ready when you are." As the helicopter touched down on the roof of a nearby building, Miguel leaped out. His eyes darted to the distant structure of the Auction House. It was quite hidden. It was the kind of place where the rich and powerful gathered to flaunt their wealth and indulge in their darkest desires without the rest of the world knowing. As he stood there observing the location, his phone buzzed again. “Ash, what do you have?” Miguel asked into his mic after accepting the call from Ash. "Sir, I’ve intercepted communications from inside the Auction House again. The bidding has started already. Your sister is about to be sold, she's next..."
