Elizabeth tapped her fingers against her thigh as the phone rang. Miguel picked up almost immediately.
“Where are you?” she asked, her tone calm but firm.
Miguel sighed. “I already told you. Why are you still asking?”
Elizabeth crossed her arms. “I’m just making sure you’re not doing anything stupid.”
Miguel frowned. “Why would you think that?”
Elizabeth leaned back against the couch. “I just spoke with Laura. I asked if she had any idea why you were acting up, and she said she didn’t.
