MIGUEL'S MANSION
Elizabeth was in the kitchen when her phone rang. Carrying a cup of tea, she walked out to the dining table to pick it up.
"Laura?"
Seeing Laura’s name on the screen, she hesitated for a brief second before answering.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Elizabeth.” Laura’s voice was calm but carried an urgency that Elizabeth didn’t miss.
“Laura.” Elizabeth acknowledged her, setting her tea down on the table.
There was a slight pause before Laura got straight to the point. “Can you ask Miguel to take my call? Or maybe you could just hand the phone to him if he’s there. It’s important.”
Elizabeth exhaled slowly, already sensing the weight behind the request. “Miguel isn’t home,” she informed her. “He dropped Max and Lily off with me and left immediately after.”
