COLE'S APARTMENT Cole was in his kitchen brewing coffee when the doorbell rang. The sound almost startled him. He wasn’t expecting anyone, especially not this early in the morning. Setting the coffee pot down, he wiped his hands on a towel and made his way to the door. Peeking through the peephole, he froze. Elizabeth. He opened the door, his surprise evident. “Elizabeth? What are you doing here?” Elizabeth tilted her head, her lips curving into a small, amused smile. “Good morning to you too,” she said, her tone laced with sarcasm. Realizing his mistake, Cole flushed slightly. “Right, sorry. Good morning. Please, come in,” he said, stepping aside to let her in. Elizabeth entered, her gaze sweeping over the apartment. “Wow,” she said, clearly impressed. “Your place is really nice.”
