Laura, her mother, and her father sat in the living room; the shock of what was happening filled the room.
Jason and his father, Gregory, were still kneeling before them.
Laura's mother started to feel uneasy.
"Please get up," Laura's mother said to Jason and his father.
"No, we will only get up if you forgive us for our misdeeds," Jason said.
Jason turned to Laura while still on his knees. "Laura, please forgive me. I made a mistake, and it will never happen again," Jason said as he slapped himself to show how sorry he was.
Laura noticed their hands were bruised, and their expressions were full of guilt. Everything looked almost unbelievable; the two men who had once been threats to them were now reduced to begging for forgiveness. It looked like some kind of prank.
