The auction house erupted into murmurs of astonishment as Miguel filled the doorway with his imposing presence. . .
The sophisticated guests, who had been focusing on seeing the Nelson representative strip away the last shreds of fabric clinging to Elizabeth’s body, were now staring at Miguel’s figure.
“Who’s that? What gave him the audacity to barge into this place without an invitation?” the guard murmured into the ear of the Nelson family representative.
Taking a closer look as Miguel took another step forward, everyone’s eyes widened in recognition, and whispers spread rapidly.
“It is him, Miguel McGrath,” one person said to Tony Nelson, the Nelson family representative. Tony Nelson smirked, realizing it was really Miguel McGrath.
People began to identify Miguel as the man who had once caused a major scandal and was later forced into military exile.
“This is impossible,” one well-dressed man gasped from behind Tony Nelson, his voice barely above a whisper. “That’s Miguel, the one they all say is cursed!”
“Isn’t he the one who caused that big scandal years ago? The one who had to join the military to escape the shame and save his own head? It is him!” another guest murmured, their gaze fixed on Miguel.
Many of the people standing there believed that Miguel’s arrival was a waste of time. Their faces reflected the disbelief that was in their minds. They knew he was up against a member of the Golden Circle, the Nelson family.
Standing there with the eye of a predator, Miguel’s eyes darted from one face to another as he calculated his moves. At that moment, one of the men in the auction house walked out from behind Tony Nelson.
“He’s doomed,” he said to everyone in a loud voice, as he pointed to Miguel. “There’s no way he can save his sister. He’s here only to die. So for me, I think we should continue having fun with this lady in the cage!” he said, and all the men cheered.
Miguel clenched his fists and teeth at the same time. He was burning with rage to hear them say such a thing against his sister, disrespecting her.
Tony Nelson, who had been quietly enjoying the chaos and drama, as well as all the insults they showered on Miguel, stood up with a smug expression.
“Hmmm...” he said as he stroked his chin.
He turned slowly to the man who had suggested that they continue to enjoy themselves by stripping Elizabeth, as if considering what he had suggested.
“I think you are very correct there, my friend. I mean, this lady is ours already; I just bought her. We are all going to have her, one after the other,” Tony Nelson said with a lustful smirk as he gawked at Elizabeth through the cage bars.
“But first, let us deal with her fool of a brother, and then she will be ours,” Tony Nelson said.
He then slowly turned to Miguel, who still stood. His eyes were focused on Tony Nelson like he was prey to be devoured. Tony Nelson, on the other hand, didn’t care at all; he believed that Miguel was a weakling who would never be able to fight back.
“Everyone, mark my words,” Tony Nelson announced in a chilling tone. “Miguel McGrath will not only die today, but he will also beg for mercy. He will beg for me to kill him and end his misery. I’ll make him watch as I have his sister, and then I am going to give him an option to beg for his own death. He will be on his knees, licking my shoes.”
The crowd laughed. They laughed so loudly that the whole room was filled with their voices.
Miguel ignored the talk. All he wanted was to get to his sister first before deciding how to face Tony Nelson and his companions.
He advanced toward the iron cage where his sister Elizabeth was confined, his eyes burning with rage as he saw how much his sister had suffered. The anger grew deeper with every bruise he found on her body.
Elizabeth’s eyes widened in fear, seeing that her brother was fearlessly approaching the cage where she was kept. She clearly saw that Tony Nelson and his gang were on the opposite side of the cage.
Tears streamed down her face as she cried out, “Miguel! Stay back, Miguel. I don’t want them to hurt you!”
Miguel’s heart ached at the sight of his sister being humiliated in that manner—bruised and battered, her clothes torn and barely covering her body.
He rushed to her cage, gripping the bars tightly. “Elizabeth, I’m so sorry,” he said, his voice strained with the guilt of not coming before the humiliation started. “I should have been here sooner.”
“Save your apologies,” the Nelson family member sneered, stepping forward with a predatory grin. “This is your chance to make amends. The Nelson family, members of the Golden Circle, orchestrated the death of your parents. And now, we’ll end you as well. As for your sister, she is not going to die. We will keep her as a pet after eliminating you!”
Miguel’s eyes blazed with fury. “How dare you?!” Miguel said with a cold voice.
Tony Nelson’s smile widened. “Oh, save that! Let me give you a different option. If you want to live, you’ll beg for mercy and surrender your sister to me yourself. Or you can choose to die right here, right now. And don’t forget that I’ll still have her after you die.”
The rage in Miguel grew to the point where he could no longer hold back.
Without hesitation, Miguel’s fist connected with Tony Nelson’s face. The blow echoed through the hall, and the man collapsed instantly after a loud scream escaped his mouth, his body going limp as he fell to the ground.
Crack!!
The crowd gasped in shock, and an eerie silence followed the violent act.
“Anyone else want to try me?” Miguel’s voice was low and dangerous. His glare swept across the remaining guests, who were now frozen in fear.
“Clear the auction house!” Miguel roared to his subordinates. “Get everyone out now!”
Panic erupted as the crowd scrambled to escape, their frantic movements leaving only the members of the Golden Circle and their loyal allies behind.
The atmosphere grew tense, with the remaining guests forming a tight circle around Miguel, their eyes fixed on him in anger for mysteriously bringing down one of their highly esteemed members, Tony Nelson.
“Do you think you can just waltz in here and make demands?” a tall, imposing man from the Golden Circle said, stepping forward with his fists clenched. “You’ve made quite an entrance, but your actions have sealed your fate. We will not allow you to walk out of here alive.”
Miguel’s eyes narrowed at the man. “I’m here to avenge my parents and make you all pay for what you’ve done, and what you were about to do to my sister. You think you can intimidate me with numbers?”
The auction house manager, a burly man with a cold, calculating gaze, moved to the center of the room. “You’re a fool if you think you can take us all on,” he said, gritting his teeth. “You’ve just made your final mistake.”
He raised his hand, signaling to a group of men stationed at the entrance. The sound of heavy boots thudding on the floor filled the room as over a hundred heavily armed men began filing in.
“Over a hundred men, all ready to put an end to your pathetic attempt at heroism,” the manager said with a smirk. “We’ve prepared for this moment. You’re outnumbered and outmatched.”
“Are you ready to die?” one of the armed men said, pointing a massive double-barreled gun.
