Miguel leaned back against the soft cushions of his couch in his private ward, nursing the dull ache in his ribs as he absently watched the news flash across the television.

The name Cole lit up the screen. He picked up immediately.
“Cole,” Miguel greeted, his voice steady, but there was a note of expectation as he was waiting for updates. “What’s the update?”
