Chapter 1
After a long day of work, Selene felt so exhausted. She carried her bag from the counter and
left. On her way home, she followed the shortcut leading to her house. This route was a real
Quiet and lonely path. Selene tugged her jacket closer as she walked home, her boots clicking.
Against the quiet pavement, the sound filled the air. The trees waved and made sounds. It was
Late—too late, the time was around 11:00pm, but she hated asking for rides. Besides, nothing
Ever happened in this town? It barely had people around. The only thing seen there was some
Shops by the roadside.
But tonight felt… different, unlike how it basically feels.
The streets were almost too still, the usual distant sounds of life eerily absent. Maybe it was just
Exhaustion messing with her, or maybe it was the way the wind kept shifting, making the trees
Whisper like they were telling secrets. It was just her walking alone on the street.
Then she heard it.
Footsteps.
Faint. Measured. A few paces behind her, the sound didn't feel like it was far away.
Her stomach tightened, her heart racing. She slowed her pace slightly, listening and paying
More attention. The sound stopped. When she glanced over her shoulder, and turned back
Checking if anyone was behind her, nothing was seen. Just dim streetlights and empty
sidewalks.
Her pulse was faster now. She shook off the unease and picked up her pace.
Trying to get her mind off the horrifying thoughts of someone following her. She was being
Paranoid, that was all.
Then came the second sound—a quiet shuffle from the alley ahead.
Selene’s steps faltered. The alley wasn’t well-lit, just a stretch of darkness between buildings.
She swallowed hard and forced herself to keep walking, but just as she passed—
Her heart skipped a beat, as a figure stepped out of the alley. She was terrified.
A tall, broad shouldered, dark man. Moving with a strange Confidence. He walks towards her,
Frowning his face.
Selene’s breath caught. She was about to run, but it was too late to turn back. He was already
Too close to her.
He took a step toward her, blocking her path.
"Going somewhere?" he said.
Her throat felt dry, but she squared her shoulders.
“I don’t have any money with me, if that’s
what you’re after. You won't find anything ” she said fearfully, her voice trembling.
The man tilted his head, his eyes looking at her as though he found the goddess he
long-awaited, like he was studying her. Then, he smirked.
"It’s not what you have that interests
me, Selene. It’s what you are. It's what you are selene” He said
Her heart slammed against her ribs. How did he know her name? Why is he acting like he has
longed to know me?
Before she could react or even utter a word , he said “I'm Damon Voss” then moved vanishing
into the dark alley he came from.
What just happened now ?She thought.
