Saraphina POV
I was upstairs in my room when Xavier arrived at the pack, and although I needed to talk to him, I knew I wasn't allowed to be in the same space with him until it was breeding night, which would not happen until the next two days. I couldn't wait that long, so I started to pace around my room, thinking of an idea on how to talk to Xavier and relay my concerns to him. I thought of writing to him on paper, but I imagined him tearing it up and setting it on fire without even reading it, so I scratched that idea. I also thought of asking an omega to relay the message, but the thought of Xavier sending her to the dungeons because of me, didn't sit well with me.
“Think Saraphina, think of something,” I muttered to myself, trying to force my brain to bring up an idea. “Bingo!” I uttered gladly when a certain idea crossed my mind. And when I was sure Xavier had gone up to his wings, I rushed downstairs, just in time to meet the Beta, Draco.
“Beta Draco, please wait up,” I called and he paused, slowly turning around to face me. I guess he was on his way to the garden or something.
“How may I help you, Saraphina?” He asked, his face rigid as ever. Like Alpha, like Beta.
“Uhm, I don't know if I can ask a favor from you. It's really…uhm…”
“Please, go straight to the point Saraphina. I can't stand here all day, you know that.” His tone was still firm, radiating the power of a true Beta. Honestly, Draco was perfect as a Beta, and I knew that if anything were to happen to Xavier, he would also make a great Alpha; he had the aura.
“The thing is, I need a job. I'm always bored with the pack and I need to keep myself busy. I would have spoken to Alpha Xavier about this, but you know…I can't have access to him until breeding nights and I can't imagine talking about this while we're in the act.”
“So you want me to talk to him about this?”
“Y-yes, if that's okay with you. I'll be really grateful.” I uttered, clasping my hands above my head, hoping he wouldn't say no.
“Okay. I'll go talk to him about it.” He said, and with this, walked past me, heading towards Xavier's wings.
I was startled a little. “You're going to talk to him now?” I asked, as I watched him from behind but he didn't say a word, didn't bother to look back at me.
I started to pace around, biting my fingers as I felt nervous. I didn't expect the Beta to just go to him like that, I thought he would think about it then go talk to him like a few hours later. “Oh my, I wonder what he'll say and how things will go?” I thought to myself, still pacing around in worry.
“Saraphina.” I heard him call and I turned around. My eyes widened with shock as I wondered how Draco had come back so soon. Did Xavier not allow him to speak?
“Y-yes.”
“The Alpha has asked to see you.”
“W-what? M-me?” I questioned, heart pounding so loudly within my ribcage. Had I gotten in trouble for daring to ask such a thing? Moon above, how could I, a mere breeder ask for a job? What have I done? Would I be punished now?”
“Yes, he is waiting for you in his study. Please come with me while I lead the way.” Draco didn't even wait for me to ask more questions; he started walking away, hands in his pockets.
I licked my suddenly dried quivering lips, palms quickly turning clammy. I hesitated a little, but I eventually followed the Beta, silently praying I wouldn't get a deadly punishment.
Soon, we arrived at the study, and unfortunately for me, Draco didn't enter with me. He opened the door, then left. I still hesitated as I stood outside, but because I knew Xavier hated to be kept waiting, I swallowed a lump and entered the study.
Like a King, he sat on the chair across the desk filled with paper, one leg crossed over the other. He was still in his work attire, but his coat was gone, revealing only the inner white shirt that had a few buttons undone. Damn, I had touched that chest a million times, seen it too, both in real life and in my dreams, but my fingers still twitched to touch it.
“So, you want a job?” He questioned, eagle-like eyes fixed on mine. Gosh, he was so intimidating.
I swallowed, wetting my oddly dried throat. “Y-yes.”
“A mere breeder wants a job?” He let out a low chuckle and that stung. He was mocking me, and it really stung considering the fact that I was once a respectable profile in my former pack. “Shouldn't your only job be to have my heir?”
I knew it was a rhetorical question, so I didn't answer.
My breath hitched, body running cold as he rose from his chair like a phoenix and started walking towards me. I moved back as he walked closer but soon, I felt something hit my back…the damn wall.
I yelped, closing my eyes in fear as he leaned in, until his breath started to fan my nose. He caged me against the wall, one hand on it, and the other on my left boob pressing really hard. I bit my lip, trying hard to stifle any sound. “Open your eyes.” He commanded, and I did.
His expression was unreadable, yet intense.
“So tell me, what kind of job do you want?”
I hesitated and that earned me a painful pinch on my n****e. “Arghhh…” He placed his hand on my lip, forcing me to keep quiet.
“No noise in my study, breeder. Now, answer my question.” He commanded, voice like honey, yet sharp like a razor.
“B-baking? I want to apply for a job at a baking shop.” I said innocently and moon above, nothing prepared me for what came next.
