Chapter1
Saraphina's POV “Oh my God, Sara! Adrian’s jaw will hit the floor when he sees you in this dress!” Sophie, my twin sister gushed as she stepped back, trying to get a proper view of my look. I blushed hard, my ears heating. “Y-you think so?” “Of course yeah, girl! In fact, the whole pack will have their eyes on you! Damn, you look fire!” I couldn't help but chuckle. My sister had such a sweet mouth and I loved it. She always made me feel confident. “Well, thank you for making me look ‘fire’ I said in a playful tone. “Who needs a stylist and a makeup artist when my sister can do it all?” Sophie flipped her hair dramatically, a smug grin on her face. “Exactly! Bow before the Queen of glam,” she said with a wink. “Now go out there and knock Adrian dead…but, like, not literally. Just enough to make him regret blinking.” I laughed, shaking my head as I grabbed my heels and put them on. “Are you sure you don't want to come?” “Nah, mating balls are for kids. No offense. I believe I'll find my mate when the time is right.” “Okay then, love you!” “Love you too b***h!” I walked out of our home, my heart racing and palms sweaty. I was so nervous. It was a big night for me, for us. Adrian would announce to the pack that I was his fated mate and future Luna. Alpha Adrian was my childhood crush and best friend. Just a week ago, we discovered we were fated to each other, bound by the moon goddess. Although I feared he might reject me because I thought he saw me as just a sister, he accepted the bond and confessed how he had always loved me but was scared to confess as he didn't want to ruin the friendship. And now, with no more secrets between us and the bond growing stronger each day, he was ready to claim me in front of the entire pack. I clutched the edge of my dress and took a deep breath as I stepped into the car and in a few minutes, we arrived at the pack house, where the ceremony had already started. As the late Beta's daughter, I was welcomed warmly by the guests in the hall as everyone wanted a chance to talk to the daughter of a great wolf. I smiled politely, exchanging greetings and small talk, though my mind was elsewhere—on Adrian. I could feel his presence even before I saw him, the pull of our bond like a gentle tug on my soul. And then, I saw him at the very far end of the room, talking with a few guests. As if he felt my gaze on him, he turned to face me, and heavens, my heart almost exploded. I had known Adrian for so long, yet I couldn't get used to how handsome he looked. His features were perfect, molded like they were carved by the goddess herself. And his honey brown eyes…don't even get me started. He could easily be mistaken for an ethereal being. Adrian flashed a small smile towards me and he turned away. But my own smile faltered and my heart churned as I noticed that the smile lacked warmth. However, I quickly brushed off the negative feeling. He was probably already tired. Soon, the main party started and we did the first dance. The whole time, I didn't even catch a glimpse of Adrian until it was over. “Hey b***h!” I heard my sister's familiar voice and I turned around quickly, shocked to see her. “I thought you weren't coming?” “Change of plans.” She winked. I opened my mouth to speak but then I heard the soft clinking of a spoon against a glass, and I turned to see Adrian standing on the stage, holding a mic. His expression was unreadable. “First of all, I want to thank everyone for being here tonight,” he began, his voice calm but distant. “But before we continue, I have an announcement to make.” “Oh my goodness! This is it! He was going to announce to everyone that I was his mate!” “It's time! It's time!” My wolf, Kira, uttered, practically rolling on her stomach. Adrian turned to face me. “Saraphina, can you please join me on the stage?” Howls erupted as the people cheered me on, whistling and clapping. Maybe I was a little too nervous, but damn, my legs were shaky as hell, and I felt a pit in my stomach as I walked towards him. I should be happy, but for some reason, I was a little too scared. Adrian cleared his throat then continued as I joined him on stage. “As most of you already know, I discovered that Saraphina was my destined mate last week, and I intend to marry and make her my Luna.” More claps and howls. “However,” He turned to face me, his expression so dark it made my body run cold. Why was he staring at me like that? Like he suddenly just realized I was the villain in his story? I swallowed, not liking the feeling that was crawling up my spine. He turned to the crowd again and continued. “After discovering that Saraphina was nothing but a fake—a manipulative liar who has been acting like a saint the whole time, I have decided to reject her as my destined mate.” Loud gasps erupted in the hall and a few glass cups shattered as guests dropped them in shock. The entire room fell into stunned silence, eyes darting between Adrian and me. My chest tightened, and the noise around me became a distant blur. I stood frozen, unable to speak, unable to move, as his words echoed in my head. “Reject her as my destined mate.” No one spoke. Not even my wolf. Adrian broke the silence by continuing. “I apologize for making this party gloomy but as an Alpha, I have to do what is right.” He pointed at me. “After so many investigations, it has been revealed that this wench was responsible for her parents’ death. She killed a great Beta and his wife out of jealousy.” Hot tears quickly rolled down my cheeks as I stared at my mate. “A-adriain what are you talking about? W-what is the meaning of this?” I tried to move towards him but two warriors suddenly appeared and grabbed my shoulders, seizing me. “Do not even come near me, you murderer,” he spat, and I flinched like he’d struck me. I stared at him, my lips trembling, my heart shattering into pieces I knew I could never piece back together. “I didn’t… I would never. Adrian, please,” I whispered, my voice barely audible over the pounding in my ears. But he looked at me with nothing but disgust. “At first I didn't believe it because I loved Saraphina and thought she could never harm a fly. But with all the evidence pointing to her, I knew I needed to do the right thing. Saraphina is a psychotic b***h who killed her parents simply because they suggested I marry her twin sister.” “That's not true!” I cried out, struggling against the warrior's grip. “I would never hurt my parents, they died in an accident!” Okay, yes, my parents did suggest that Sophie should marry Adrian but that was a joke they made a long time ago because Sophie and Adrian seemed to always bicker. They only said this to get on their nerves. How on earth could I be mad over a joke and then go as far as to kill them? “Sara…” My sister called softly as she emerged from the crowd. “It's over. Just confess and maybe Adrian might reduce your sentence.”
