I looked away, unable to look at my sister in the face.
“Oh, come on sis, don't pout. It's not the end of the world.” Sophie began, coming close to me, her heels echoing against the marble floor. “Besides, as your loving twin, I've convinced my husband to reduce your sentence.”
I looked up at her, and the tears I was trying to hold rolled down my cheek. How could she do this to me? How could she marry Adrian? Had she secretly loved him all these years?
“W-why?” I managed to speak, my voice low and cracked. “Why are you doing this? Why did you betray me? You know our parents died in an accident.”
My sister tilted my chin, making me look straight into her eyes. She had a smug expression on her face. She wasn't even remorseful. “I didn't betray you sister, I only did what I had to do to survive.”
The expression on her face turned dark, so evil it made cold run down my spine. “You think I was happy the whole time? You think my smiles were real?! They were all fake Sara! Fake! You were Mom and Dad's favourite, everyone loved you, including Adrian. Even though I liked him first, he only ever had eyes for you. I was invisible next to you, Sara. I was only ever ‘Sara’s twin’ nothing more. So don’t act shocked now. This...this is me finally taking back what was always stolen from me. I'm taking my life back.”
I couldn't even describe what I was feeling at that moment as I stared at my twin…the same girl I wished to be like, as she was the most confident, loving person I'd ever met. While I was mostly shy and socially awkward, Sophie was outspoken and a social butterfly. Who would have thought she was envious of me?
“People loved you too, Sophie…”
“Shut up! f*****g shut up! Don't you get it?! They only loved me because I was your twin! They tolerated me because being close to you made me worth something. Without you, I was nothing but the extra twin no one really cared about.”
I was stunned, blinking back tears as I stared at her. I opened my mouth to speak but she interrupted,
“Anyways, I'm not here to trade words with you.” She scrutinized me from head to toe. “I only came here to confirm if you're ready. Because any minute from now, warriors from the Dark Claw pack would be here to get you. Congratulations, Sara, instead of being burned alive you've been sold to Alpha Xavier as his breeder.”
My heart stopped and my body froze. “W-what are you talking about?”
“Well, Adrian was set on burning you, but then we heard Alpha Xavier was looking for a breeder. So we made a deal. In exchange for you, he’s offering a hefty sum to support our pack.”
“No!”

Despite my pleas and cries, Sophie still allowed Alpha Xavier's warriors to drag me out when they came. As for Adrian, the man I loved, he never came. Sophie said he couldn't stand the sight of me and wanted me to disappear as soon as possible.
In the car, I cried my eyes out until they got swollen shut, and then I fell asleep. When I woke up again, I continued crying and then fell asleep again and by the time I woke up for the third time, I was numb. I couldn't feel anything, just a void. It was as if I had lost the remaining part of my soul.
I had come to fully accept my fate. To accept the fact that the people I called family betrayed me and sold me off to a man rumored to be a monster. According to the rumors, Alpha Xavier was the devil himself, a man without a heart, a man who killed without remorse. He was the most powerful Alpha in the werewolf kingdom, feared and respected by all.
He was so scary that, despite being the most handsome being alive, as the rumors said, no woman wanted to become his breeder despite him searching for years and offering huge money. He was simply a terror that no one should mess with and as cruel as fate was, I had just gotten sold to him.
Soon, I arrived at Alpha Xavier's pack house and I couldn't help but he awed at how huge and beautiful the place was. But despite this, I couldn't bring myself to admire the place as I was too scared of what might come next.
“Wait here. Alpha will be here soon.” One of the warriors said as he led me into a nice room.
I settled down on the bed, my heart racing like a war drum as I counted down to the time Alpha Xavier would walk into the room. I kept my hands between my thighs, trying to steady their trembling. Fear was an understatement as to how I felt at that moment.
After what felt like hours, the door flung open, and heaven, the most beautiful man I had ever seen, stepped into the room. Heavens above, I thought Adrian was easily the most handsome man on earth.
How could a man like this exist between us mere mortals?!
Alpha Xavier stood tall…easily over six feet, with broad shoulders that seemed carved from stone. His face was expressionless, almost cold, yet every angle of it was sharp and perfect, like a painting came to life. His piercing blue eyes held no warmth, only a storm. A single scar ran across one of them, but instead of hiding his beauty, it made him look dangerously, devilishly handsome—like a fallen angel who’d forgotten how to feel.
“What is your name? I forgot.” His voice came, deep and lacking warmth.
“I-it's Saraphina.”
“Okay Saraphina, strip.”
“W-what?” I muttered, my eyes wide and my body running cold.
My simple question must have annoyed him because he suddenly frowned. “I hate repeating myself, Saraphina. Whenever I give a command you must follow immediately.” His gaze was deadly as he pinned them on me. He looked like he could kill me if I breathed in the wrong way.
I swallowed hard. What was the point of holding back anyway? I already belonged to him. I was his breeder. So with shaky hands and tears rolling down my face, I began to take off my dress.
“Remove the bra.”
I swallowed but I still did as instructed.
My body flared with heat, goosebumps racing across my skin as he stalked toward me. I instinctively took a step back, but his deep growl froze me in place. Before I could blink, his hand shot out and grabbed my left breast, squeezing it hard.
“Firm,” he said curtly, eyes unreadable.
Then, without warning, he spun me around and landed a sharp slap on my behind.
“Good,” he muttered.
“Look at me.” His voice sliced through the air like a command from the gods.
I turned slowly, trembling, my heartbeat thundering so loudly I was sure he could hear it.
He didn’t blink. “First of all,” he began, his tone still rigid and cold, “You need to understand your place in this pack house. You are nothing more than a breeder, meant to carry my heir. I do not care about your comfort, your feelings, or your survival. If you die, I’ll simply replace you.”
He paused, letting the weight of his words sink in. His eyes skimmed over me like I was a possession, not a person.
“There are rules. You do not speak unless spoken to. You are not allowed to come near me unless I permit it. You will never eat with me, no matter the occasion. You must never set foot into the West Wing. And most importantly, we are only intimate on breeding nights.”
“Now,” He straightened his back. “Have your dinner and meet me in this room, our first session begins tonight.”
