Chapter 2

Lilith Time actually went by quickly enough. It was already 23:30 and it was time to open the club. As soon as the club opened, a big group of women came in through the doors. It was always like this. Even though it was shameful to be gay or lesbian, there were always a lot of women testing their own sexuality. Most of the women had masks or veils on. The strippers, or ‘pole dancers’, were already doing their job. I had retreated behind the bar, which thankfully meant that I didn’t have to touch anyone. A woman with a fox mask came over to my side of the bar. “Hello, can I have a Margarita and a Cosmopolitan?” she asked. She had to yell a bit to be heard over the music and people talking. “Coming right up.” I answered and started mixing the drinks. Silver tequila, cointreau, some ice, and some fresh lime juice. That was the Margarita. Citrus vodka, cointreau, lime juice, some ice, and cranberry juice, and that was the Cosmopolitan. “Here are your drinks. That’ll be 17 dollars and 48 cents,” I said. The woman smiled at me. “You can just open a tab under the name ‘Camilla Lionheart’ and I’ll pay when we’re done,” she said. I nodded and opened the tab. It felt like the night went on forever. The clock was 4:58, meaning I was off work in 2 minutes. “You can go home now, Lilith.” Paige said as she finished up wiping the bar. I looked over at her. I had just finished wiping all of the tables. “But it’s not time yet,” I mumbled. “I’m sure that Kendall won’t see a problem with it. You have to get up to go to school in a couple of hours, so hurry home.” “Alright. Then, I’ll be going.” I said and walked out into the back of the club. I put on my jacket and took off my cap and then exited the club. I trudged over to my bike. I was getting kind of tired now, which was rare. I had pretty bad insomnia and I only slept around 2-3 hours at night, if I even got any sleep. Sometimes I was lucky enough to fall asleep at school, but that was also rare. I arrived home and got off of my bike and entered the building. I unlocked the front door to our apartment, and locked the door after me before taking off my boots and jacket. I walked out into the kitchen and started rummaging around the cabinets to find something to eat. When I had found bread, butter, and meat, one of the doors in the hallway opened and I could hear Dante walking into the kitchen. “Aahhh, mmhh…” he was yawning while scratching his head. “Hey Lilith. You’re home late,” he said, and looked at me with drowsy eyes. Dante is my gay roommate. “Hey Dante. Yeah, I just got off from work,” I answered. Dante stared at me for a bit. I turned around and looked at him. “What?” I asked. “It was just… I just wanted to say that I have a friend who is a lesbian and she is looking for a girlfriend. So, if you want to, then I can introduce you two.” “I appreciate the thought, but I don’t think I need a girlfriend right now.” “I think it might be a good idea for you to try a serious relationship. Like where you date for real and you have fun together. So you know how it is before you just condemn yourself to a future all alone.” “… I’ll think about it.” I mumbled. “Alright. Then I’ll let you eat your food and go to bed.” Dante said, and walked back into his room. I finished up my food and walked into my room. After eating, I found a notebook. I then just started writing. I had a habit of writing when I had done a lot in a day, then just write a few words down and then create a short story from it. I wouldn’t say that I love writing short stories, but it is good at making time pass. When I had been writing for a bit, I finally decided to try and get some sleep. It didn’t, however, go according to plan. I was lying awake until the clock was 6:53, and I figured that I might as well just get up. I walked over to my desk and looked at the drawings that were plastered onto the wall, just hanging gathering dust. And my sewing machine is doing the same. I had always wanted to become a tailor. I had the creativity to create drawings of new pieces of clothes, but I had never gone further than that. I had fabric, thread, a sewing machine, scissors, needles and so on, so I actually could make clothes myself. But it was like, every time I sat down to try and work on it, something blocked my motivation. I got dressed and walked out into the kitchen. Dante was sitting, eating breakfast and Orion was nowhere to be seen. Orion is the 2nd roommate. He had probably already gone to work. He works as a trucker. “Good morning, Dante.” I said and poured myself a cup of coffee. “Good morning, Lilith. Did you get some sleep?” “No, not really.” I answered and took a sip of my coffee. “About what we talked about earlier… I would like to get introduced to your friend.” Dante looked up from his plate and looked me in my eyes. “Sure, I’ll talk to her and then tell you what we have figured out.” “Thanks.” After talking a little more with Dante, and getting something to eat, I walked out to my bike and put on the helmet. I really didn’t feel like going to school, but if I didn’t, then both Kendall and Dante would nag me again. I took off towards school.
