PRIDE In the following week of Jess’ hellhound arrival, the two have become annoyingly close. Pepper -which is my name that the hound is borrowing- is absolutely taken by Jess. At home, he transforms himself into a black Pitbull terrier and lays on Jess’ lap all day long. When we walk to school, he’s a butterfly that sits on her shoulder. In class, he would be a small black hamster either in her breast pocket or inside her bag. I can tell that he prefers the Pitbull terrier form the most because he gets scratches. It’s irritating. They even share the same bed. He follows her everywhere and although it offers my worry for her safety a relief, I still feel the familiar negative emotion of jealousy.
