The Prologue
Arabella's POV
The sound of footsteps grew closer, and a glowing light from a lantern illuminated the concrete walls of the dungeon. The stone was cold, but the steel from the chain clinging to my ankle was much colder. How the hell did I let this happen? Two figures entered and hung the lanterns on the wall fixtures. I refused to lift my head while they stood in front of me in silence. "I feared you had forgotten me," I merely whispered, still sitting with my head between my legs. "A decision has been made." My head perked up at the words knowing I was finally going to learn my fate.
"The Coven has found you guilty for the attempted execution on Copperton Manor." The gorgeous male said, his hair was a platinum blond, nearly white, and his eyes were a piercing icy blue. Both men had the palest skin I had ever seen that almost appeared translucent. Despite their dashing looks, I knew they were monsters, which is exactly why I was there to take down every single one of them. Clearly, I had failed miserably.
I hated these beings more than anything else in the world. They had taken everything from me, including my entire family, so I had absolutely nothing left to lose. The day I watched my fathers execution was the day I decided I rather sacrifice myself if it meant I could take out at least a few of the parasitic Vampires. The Copperton Coven had taken over our village, and with their intrusion, came nothing but death and havoc.
I cleared my throat and with a raspy voice I asked, "When will I be executed?" The man's face pulled into a sinister grin that sent a shiver down my spine. "You shall not meet death today, my sweet Arabella." The dark brown haired man beside him chimed in.
Just then, a woman also with platinum blond hair entered the chamber. She wore a long white cloak and with how tired I was, I almost mistook her for an angel coming to save me from my worst nightmare. I was certain she had to be related to the blonde man because they looked nearly identical. "The Coven has decided a punishment that will render any more rebellion out of you," her voice was just as beautiful as she was. I almost didn't realize I was in serious danger because of how hypnotized I was. Or perhaps it was due to the fact I was sleep deprived, starving, and severely dehydrated.
There was no escape this time. There was no hero coming to save me. There were no second chances. I had accepted my fate with death, but now I was told I would not see death's face just yet. The three Vampires stood before me, their devious eyes exchanging glances at my confused gaze. What evil beings they were. "You will be turned into the creature you despise most." The brown haired man said as he gave the woman a quick nod. She grinned as she slid off her cloak, and handed it to what I assumed was her brother.
I couldn't help but cringe and quickly crawl backwards until my back slammed against the stone wall, the chains loud clanking echoed with every movement as my breaths turned into hyperventilating heaves. "Please no! Please I rather die! Please have mercy I beg of you!" I began pleading as she moved closer to me. Even in my horrified state of mind, her scent was beautiful and would have relaxed me if I didn't know what was about to happen.
"Shh, this will be over before you know it." She whispered with a smile that was sweet but ever-so sinister. In that moment I saw her icy blue eyes turn pitch black. Her plump lips parted, revealing a pearly set of teeth with fangs slowly protruding out. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. Her lips pressed against my neck where she intended to leave her mark, and her tongue grazed my skin making me quiver. "Do it now!" One of the men urged in an eager voice. A warm tear slid down my cheek as I listened to my heartbeat race for the last time. And with that, the blonde woman sunk her fangs into my neck ending my humanity.
