Chapter 10: The Change

1532 Words
~Calder's P. O. V. ~ Eira and Saga were incredible to see. I knew she was hesitant about turning me into one. Her fear was for the people. It was understandable. Especially, since she didn't know how the outcome would affect them. Having the Moon Goddess set aside her fear, she accepted to change me. She wanted to wait until tonight. Where we would have a full moon and a cloudless night. Apparently, the moon gives them an upper hand in fighting. A full moon empowers the ranking wolves more than the Omegas and rogue wolves. Since Saga is mated to me, she is no longer a rogue wolf. And her title jumped from Gamma to Luna. Whatever that meant. Here we are. In my bed chambers with the woman who I am about to call my mate. She had me lying flat on my back. And almost completely naked. Except for my undergarments. She was checking my pulse. My eyes. And my muscles. She was no healer, but she knew a little of what to look for. I was a bit nerved. I am to be the first human to change into a wereewolf. I think back to when she told me about herself. If she hadn't shown me, I wouldn't have believed it. When she stood there in her wolf form, I was terrified at first. But the moon shimmered in her eyes and reflected back the moon's surface. Her night black fur twinkled like stars. I saw the shape of the moon on her forehead. She was a magnificent wolf. I look at her now. Her red hair glowed like candlelight. And her eyes. I could get lost in those eyes forever. They were like ocean threads. Dark green mixed with gold. They really do remind me of seaweed. It astounded me that she and her wolf are so different. Moonlike eyes and pitch black fur. Seaweed green eyes with fire-red hair. Both equally beautiful, both equally scary. She had made sure to grab a cloth and a bucket of water. "Alright. It's time. I am going to bite you. There will be a lot of pain. You were not born a wolf, so, I am going completely on faith with the Moon Goddess here." She took a deep breath. She turned my head to expose a certain vein. I could tell she was nervous. "Here." She handed me a dry cloth. "Bite on this and try not to have our people worry about their chief." I took the cloth. "Alpha." Correcting her. She shook her head and lightly slapped my shoulder while having a fit of laughter. That seemed to work to calm her down. I exposed my neck to her. "Just do it." I told her in a muffled voice. She nodded and leaned down to my neck. At first, she kissed it. I felt her fangs lengthen and touch my skin. "I hope this works." Was all that I heard before she bit hard into my neck. Her body held mine down. The pain was even more unbelievable than finding out she was a werewolf. My body felt like it had been through a burning pyre. I couldn't see anything but the pitch black of the pain. Then, I felt nothing. Saw nothing. I was afraid that I had been killed by this. No. I cannot believe that. Saga. She is my catalyst. Her smile returned after accepting me and me accepting her. Seeing her handle my axes when she woke up, oh, what a sight. Her strength had returned. I know for a fact that she is mine and I am hers. A voice came through my thoughts. It's about damn time. We waited long enough. This voice was harsh. I am your wolf. I have to be harsh. Our mate waited too long. She should have done this almost a month ago! OI! She was just nervous, you damned flea bag. Sgiath: Ha! You're one to talk. You wanted her to do it sooner too! Calling me the flea bag?! I am Sgiath! So, this is what it's like to have a constant voice in your head. I wonder how Eira talks to Saga. Hopefully not like this. Our mate is one of a kind. "Easy there, my sons. You will get to know your mate soon, Sgiath." I heard her melodious snickering. "I named you that to be Eira's shield. And a leader must protect what is his." The Moon Goddess spoke true. "Sgiath, Calder. You are now of Alpha blood. You and Saga have the ability to change the whole village now. I bequeath you a new name for your pack." She got serious. I saw a bright white light enter the darkness. "From hence forth, your pack is to be named A' Ghealach Echo. The Echo Moon Pack." There she stood. In all of her godlike features. "For you and her are my echoes." I looked next to myself. My wolf was huge! His fur was moon white with gray patches. And his eyes were the color of an eclipsed moon. He was Eira's opposite. "And a matching pair. Take heed. You are my perfect pairing now." She reached out and touched my cheek like a mother would. "Calder. You and Hakon will discover what happened to Saga's family. I do not condone the death of my children. However, the once-had-been Alpha of the Snow Moon Pack, Alpha Felmen, started to work against his pack. Against me. I cannot give you the details. Just know that he needs to return to me. Both his human spirit and his wolf spirit." She lifted Sgiath's head and held his eyes in hers. "Sgiath. Protect your mate and your new pack. I put Alpha DNA in your blood for a reason. I know that you both will make me so proud." She kissed his forehead and then kissed mine. "Fare thee well my sons. Until we meet again." The light became so intense that I had to shield myself. I was waking up to the blackness of my bed chamber. Saga was snoring lightly, that meant she was out cold. I smiled down at her and placed my hand on her head. Sgiath wanted to run. He was already pacing in my head. This was a new feeling. I will get used to it eventually. But I wanted to run with my mate. When I thought that, her scent hit me like a stone boulder rolling down a mountain. She smelled like Honeywine and fresh baked bread. My mouth started to drool. Sgiath growled loudly in my head. Sgiath: Mate! My mate is right here! Calm down! Let them sleep! Sgiath: No time! We must run with her and mate with her! I rolled my eyes at my wolf. He's so loud and demanding. How does she do it? I was shaking her body lightly. "Saga." I whispered. "Saga." I called out a little louder. "Saga!" Yelling her name. That got her awake. She looked around and took a fighting stance. "What is it?! Are we being attacked?!" I got off my bed and pulled her to me. Letting her scent enter my senses. "Mate." I started kissing her neck. It was then that she realized what was going on. Her body reacted on its own. She let out a moan as I trailed my kisses along her marking spot. "C-Calder? You're awake?" I let my hands roam her thighs. "Indeed I am. Sgiath is hounding me to mate with you." I growled in her ear. She gave out another moan when I grabbed her ass. "You need to shift first. We can complete the mating ceremony after." Her voice was high pitched and she sounded so uncertain of herself. But she is right. We needed to shift. I slowed down my advances and led her to where she told me about Eira. Eventually, we got there. We were taking off our clothes. "I spoke to the Moon Goddess again." She looked at me with surprise. "Our pack is now called A' Ghealach Echo. The Echo Moon Pack. You and I are to start changing the villagers. Those were her orders." "So, will they all survive?" I nodded and reassured her. "That makes me feel better." She smiled at me. A genuine smile. One I have only seen a few times since her heart was repaired. "The Echo Moon Pack. I love it." We both shifted into our wolves. It hurt like the worst war scar I have ever gotten. I could feel the bones in my body cracking and reforming. My head was breaking and reshaping into the shape of Sgiath's head. When I opened my eyes, I was on all four paws. The wind of the mountain was felt through my fur. Sgiath: She is beautiful. Looking at Eira through Sgiath's eyes. She was a damn sexy wolf to him. I let him take over this body. It is his body after all. I watched as they danced and played. When they sniffed each other, that was when I made myself scarce. Nope. I didn't want to see them sniffing each other.
