~Saga's P. O. V.~
Hakon's appearance the other day made things difficult, he was actually near here. I wish I could talk to him, but how? Every time I think about him my heart crumbles into a mess and all I can feel is anger and hatred. Besides, facing him would be like last time, I want him to stop looking for me, he rejected me. I have a second chance mate and I want to be with him. Hakon is obsessing and needs to move on. I accept Calder, he's kind, caring, a warrior and treats his people with respect. Yes, I accept Calder, yet will he accept me?
"My lady Saga?" A child came from one of the bonfires we were next to. He was absolutely adorable. Curly black hair, freckles dotted on his left cheek, big pine green eyes and was wearing the cutest clothes.
"Please, you may address me as Saga, little one." I smiled at him. I got down to his level to see him eye to eye. He was blushing a little. "What may I help you with."
He started fidgeting with his hands while looking down. "W-Well, I um... I think... What I mean is... Are you and Chief Calder, you know? A couple?" I chuckled a little.
"Well, I would like to get to know him better than I do now, but eventually, yes." His eyes lit up like a newly sparked fire.
"I hope you do! He would be a terrible person if he didn't. You're so pretty." I smiled and lightly blushed.
"I appreciate the support, little one." He surprised me by throwing his arms around my neck.
"My name is Torsten, Lady Saga." I hugged him back. This 'Lady' title is starting to annoy me a little. When we let go, I noticed Calder was handing out blankets. I looked back to Torsten who started pushing me towards Calder. "Go talk to him, my lady." I figured I would amuse his child like behavior, I went over to him.
"C-Can we talk?" Smiling a little and blushed.
"In a moment, Saga. I need to hand these out before dark." He had a lot of them with him. Almost too much. I couldn't let him do this alone.
"Let me help you." I grabbed a few off the top. He was eyeing me with a side smile.
"Not many would help with this. Come. While we hand these out, I'll show you the village and your house." He looked a little disappointed with that last part. We began walking and handing out blankets for the people. They all kept thanking me with that 'Lady' title going. I didn't want to be rude, so I nodded in return. We came to a building that equaled the size of Hakon's grand hall. This one had more decor than Hakon's. Wooden heads of boars with symbols I have never seen before, the back had a giant eagle with it's wings extended above a throne. This must also work as a throne room. "This is our grand hall. We use it for a multitude of of gatherings."
"What are the boar heads for? Freya?" He nodded.
"She is one of our deities. We have the boar heads to represent Hidilsvini." We passed around the blankets to those sitting at the grand dining table. It felt nice to be able to help.
The next area we went to had been the trade bizzare, I saw many trades and was fascinated with ones I had never heard about. A trade called stable hand had my eye. There were these mounts I have never seen before. They were big, longer necked than a wolf but with no talons or claws. They were standing on their nails and had made noise I couldn't describe.
"Lady Saga? I'm sorry, could stand back? Nightshade here is kind of temperamental." I looked at this stable hand and looked back at the one called Nightshade, his long ears were back behind his head.
"What are they?" I asked.
"Do you not have steeds such as these where you came from?" Calder asked. I shook my head. Both men looked surprised. "These are called horses. We use them to carry large cargo on land and to till our fields. Don't you have animals to do some things for you?" Again I shook my head.
"We did everything by hand or tool." Well, claws to be specific, though I am leaving that part out. "As far as animals go, we only had wolves to guard our terr-" I cleared my throat, "Our claimed area." I looked away before I could see his suspicions. One of these horses came up from behind me and started sniffing me. "Whoa!" I backed away, I maybe a werewolf, but these creatures made me a bit concerned for my safety.
"Awe, Gemstone likes you." The stable hand c****d his head. "It's odd. She hates people." Oh, that's great, a horse might just out me as a wolf. I looked at this horse, she was black with blue eyes. I noticed her more, she almost looked like Eira, down to the sock. The only real difference is her eyes. No wonder she likes me, I let myself give a little smile.
"Hello, Gemstone. I'm Saga." I softly told her. I pet her head. She was so soft, she made a new noise that made saliva and nose mucus shot in my face. Calder and the stable hand were laughing.
"We call that her knicker and snort. She has taken to you." Calder looked between us. "After I show you the rest of the town, how about you acquaint yourself with her? Once you gain her trust, as you told me, then we can help you learn to ride her?" Ride her? I turned to look at them. When I did, Gemstone lightly tugged on my hair.
"Enough, Gemstone." She stopped doing it. The men looked with wide eyes. "What?"
"She... Listened." The stable hand began, "To you." I pet her again and let out a small laugh.
"I will see you later, Gemstone. I want to be your friend." I kissed the top of her head. Going back to Calder. "Where to next?" He took my waist and pulled me beside him. I felt a little tingle go through my body.
"We'll be going to the war room, I want you to be there. We have other clans coming in about an hour. I am not comfortable leaving you alone while they're here." I love that he felt protective over me. We walked through the village which has several small houses next to slightly bigger houses for bigger families. I can see myself staying here and being happy. When we got to the war room, it was different than Hakon's war room. Full of metal chairs and a metal table, four axes lined the back with a shield in the middle of them, the floor had a bear pelt in the middle. I was taken aback from the difference.
"This is not like Hakon's room." I whispered to myself. This one is well, in a word, better.
"Isn't that the wolf you sent away?" Calder questioned. He heard me? s**t!
I gave an exasperated sigh, "On the next full moon, I will tell you everything." I went out of the hall and looked up, the moon was already slightly showing, it gave me 2 days to muscle up the courage.
Eira: We need to tell him, sweetheart. It's the right thing to do.
And we will, in 2 days. I just hope he trusts me.
Eira: He will. Have trust in the Mother.
I sat next to the same fire where I met that boy, I am so worried that he won't accept who I am, Eira hasn't been with me for long, but I can't just give up being a wolf. It's settled. 2 days from now, I show Eira to him. Goddess, give me courage. Please?
