Keir hadn’t lied. Tierney paced across the wide expanse of her rooms in the east wing. Two menacing guards stood vigil at her door the moment she arrived with the maid.
Wrapping her arms around her middle, Tierney’s frantic pacing increased as her mind whirled with a thousand things at once.
“Take off those filthy clothes, Miss.” Ariella took the last steaming bucket of water from another servant and poured it into a shining brass tub.
