King Draco’s POV
I wanted it all.
But staring at the girl in front of me, something made me flinch. I didn’t know if it was how she displayed herself. Or it was her position.
But something didn’t feel right.
Perhaps it was her under garments. But it all felt wrong, almost like I had to do something to get this side of her.
It was certainly not now. My witcher could feel it.
That this part of her wasn’t warranted by me being merely King. But by something else.
As I became aware of this, I stood up walking to her trying to figure out what my witcher was telling me. But it was blank. They did it from time to time.
I puffed noticing she breathed in fast paces, this made me chuckle a bit. I reached out to touch her only to notice she closed her eyes in fright.
Also bending down, she had a hand protectively around herself. It was almost like she wasn’t ready for this.
No wonder I sensed her resistance.
Hmm. If she wasn’t ready why did she construct those words and gave the demeanor that she was?
This was something I’ll need to find out since she wasn’t willing to tell me. I exhaled again saying,
“Get up,”
She peeked from her hands slowly, uncovering her face from them. I noticed her stare was different, like she didn’t expect it.
“A-Are you sure?”
“Yes, stand up Frida, and here, take my hands,”
I gave her my hands only to notice her brows furrow. She looked like she was in a deep thought. I took another step towards her, moving my stretched hands a bit, only for her to ignore it. She stood up alone, clearing her voice.
“I can stand up myself, my King,” she said looking the other way making me smile. I stared at her attire, and then back at the clothing she previously removed which currently was on the floor.
“Very well, then,” I said taking the material in my hands and circling her a bit. I tried putting them on only for her to step back.
“W-What are you doing?” she said, her face red almost like the shade of her hair, lengthy, silky and smooth. “To think you were so confident enough to give me your innocence minutes ago, but you’re resistant now. Tell me, if you’d give yourself to me, am I not allowed to wear this piece of clothing for you?” I said, observing her with a smile.
“I-I do not mean it that way,” she said, clearing her voice once more.
“Then just put this on,” I said taking advantage of the fact that she didn’t know I sensed her truth. My hands moved to put them on for her, she stilled as I wore them but moved in parts she was required to staring at the ground.
“Why are you doing this?” she said staring at me suddenly. I noticed her eyes had an uncertain look in them, a bit teary.
“What am I doing, Frida Pumpkin?”
“You’re kind to me and it’s unsettling because I’ve heard stories of this Kingdom, my King. And, it’s all blood and bones. If you keep being this way, I might not know when the real trials come. I’ve been at the point of life and death, in this Kingdom so you can as well show me the truth,”
She blurted out making me stare at her in amusement.
I was the Kingdom man, the King. Most people would definitely like a King treat them this way. But here she was complaining.
“I treat my women the way I want to,” I genteelly stated, stepping back from her.
“Women? How many have been?” she let out, making me stare at her in glee once more.
“I’ve had a fair share of women in my centuries of living, if that’s what you’re asking,”
But none have been like you. My vampire said in my head, but I was quick to dismiss it. I’ll have to interrogate that later.
“Of course,” she said with a slight chuckle, “What am I even doing asking that? You’re the King,”
She sarcastically let out, pacing the room. It was almost like she thought of something. I walked to my sit staring at her. So far, I noticed she had a thousand surprises hovering around her.
There seemed to be something new, at every moment. As I thought of these, Frida halted some minutes after, walking up to me.
“I just offered you my body, which is something most men like, why didn’t you take it?” she asked making me cough instantly. I certainly didn’t expect this side of her. Thus, I gushed out,
“I only take women on their own accord, not forced.”
She stared at me like I had just said something foreign, before walking to sit down where she sat earlier placing her hands together like she was in deep thought.
“You’re not like all Kingdom men. Strange,” she muttered, “Then what do you want? What could I possibly offer you in this bargain to get you to make me your Queen?”
Her questions caught me off guard once more but didn’t surprise me like the first. It seemed I was starting to understand her now. Or so I thought.
“I.Need.Your.Truth,” I gritted out this time, stretching my hands and clasping them together dramatically.
“I’m an open book, Captain. I have nothing to hide from you,” she returned back.
“An open book? It’s surprising you think you are, because from my recent studies, you are a mystery, girl,” I said.
She raised her chin, making me narrow my eyes at how refined she was. Something about her silky hair, also made me wonder. They seemed smooth, like it was deeply cared for, thus the length swarm at her back.
Right from the ship, I noticed there was something off about her. It was one of the reasons I shut her out. From what it looked like, no matter how I tried, she always had a way of sneaking in. Just like fate.
“Let’s play a game then,”
“What game, Frida?” I asked, already bored.
“We tell each other a secret no one knows. Perhaps we could find a reason to need each other,” she said.
“Okay,” I agreed on spot seeing this as an opportunity to get to know her.
“Really?”
“Yes really,” I replied. “You can go first,”
“But I-“ she attempted to object but didn’t, probably because I said it first. “Okay… fine,” she breathed out.
I nodded at her. “Yeah, so the floor is yours,”
She stared at me looking around, then glanced at me again with a inhale and exhale before finally settling.
“I um, trusted a man I shouldn’t have. And, he… caused a huge scar on my Kingd- I mean to my family. He caused a scar to my family,” she suddenly let out. “He was my mom’s ex-lover, and he made us feel he wasn’t interested in her again thus, I thought he was safe, but he wasn’t. And it did me more harm than good. I still regret it till now,”
Her hand commenced shaking suddenly, only for her to hit it with the other covering it.
“You shouldn’t regret what you had no control over,” I suddenly let out. “If you didn’t know who he truly was, then he should take the guilt and burden not you.”
She nodded at me. “Thank you,”
Her words made me want to comfort her. Especially after seeing her tremble, but something told me my words did so.
My heart tugged as I said, “You’re welcome,”
I stared at her, watching as she exhaled staring at me.
“Your turn,”
“Hmm, let’s see. I thought I loved a woman once, but it turned out she wasn’t what I looked for. And, till date I feel guilty staring at my son’s grave because it feels like I committed a mortal sin,”
“Wow,”
She stared at me with an unsurprised look, that said she was not judging, “I guess we all have our demons,”
“Yeah, we do,”
As I let out those words, silence overrode the moment. The entirety of it all felt comfortable. It was as if I could remain mute, and she’d get what was left to say. It made me quiver also wondering how it’d feel if she wasn’t here.
“So,” she started out again, “How can we fit into these past pieces?”
“You have a secret to protect, and I have, why not keep it and be each other’s confidant?” I let out, standing up.
I put on my overcoat, swaying it civilly, stretching my pinky extending it to her while saying,
“Deal?”
In my calculations, I expected her to take it, however, she was full of surprises so I didn’t really know what to expect. Folding her hands, she stood up surprisingly staring intensely at me.
Written on her face was a serious expression as she replied back, “Deal,”
