~Back to reality~
“What’s your name, girl and how did you get here?”
“I’m a nobody.” I seethed at his question, with our eyes connecting. A nobody in search of my path, Captain.
“A nobody, eh? Do you hear that crew, she says she’s a nobody!” The crew laughed immensely at his words.
I scoffed, shutting my eyes and remembering even why I was doing this. The Captain’s hands went through his coal-black hair, with some loose strands just at his face sides demonically.
“There is no place for a nobody on this ship, girl.” he murmured, in my ear.
“It’s Frida.” I spat at him. “I intend to join your crew, Captain.”
A look of disbelief displayed in his dark pupils, which stared at my almond ones, with a warning glare. I swallowed, with the wind bringing a little part of my red hair to fall on my face.
“I don’t accept daddy’s girls in my crew, little one.”
The Captain voiced out, walking away from me. Feeling humiliated, I released my Lycan.
She ripped his men’s bulky hands off, with our doubled strength.
“I’m joining your crew, Captain.” My eyes flashed black for a minute, but I took it back in instantly. I knew I had to hide my identity.
A look of awe flashed his dark eyes, and so did the crew look amazed. He smirked at me, folding his arms like I was someone to study.
“She’s really strong!” One of the crew men gasped. “I would never beat the both of them put together!” Another gasped. The entire deck tensed at the silence that followed after. It was for a moment, yet demeaning.
“Give the girl two pairs of clothing, seems like her strength might come handful.”
The Captain surprisingly ordered.
“Yes, Captain!!” They immediately rushed to do as he said. I smiled to myself, knowing I was near to my path.
This ship was sailing to the Kingdom of the Shrekers. And I would penetrate the palace, even though I had to seduce the head, who had something to do with my parent’s disappearance.
I was going to find the real truth, behind it all…
I managed to keep up with the Captain who was fast paced in walking. Couldn’t use any of my abilities except strength so they didn’t suspect me.
“Thanks, for accepting me as part of your crew, eh...” In spite of my trails, he didn’t tell me, so I asked. “What’s your name?”
“Captain Draco. Draco Ravenwood.” he voiced out, staring at me intensely. “Do not think for a second that your place is here. I allowed you to join my crew, because of your strength, nothing else.”
“Aye, Captain.”
I stopped in my tracks at his dismissiveness.
“Here you go, milady.” One of the crew members, offered me the two pairs of clothing he was sent to give me. From his wrinkles, I could tell the man was really experienced with the sea.
“Thanks.” I said, with a sullen face.
“Do not be deceived by his uptightness. He’s a good man.”
“Really?” My brows furrowed at his words.
He nodded, “Yes, milady.”
“Couldn’t have guessed.” I stated. “Where is she sailing to?” I pressed my lips, referring to the ship.
“Our hometown— the Kingdom of the Shrekers.” he voiced out. “It’s a fine Kingdom, you might find out you’ll be very useful there.”
The crew member walked away mysteriously after those words. Useful? Did he mean my strength or something else?
“Gentle one, be my breeder!” A crew member sang.
“The mother of my pups.
I will make it so easier
If you take my hands….”
I scrunched my nose at the weird lyrics as they drank, switching to another sailor’s song about rum.
“Hmm,”
I balled my fists, in determination, knowing I was getting nearer to my path.
…
At night, the deck’s door creaked slowly, revealing Captain Draco. He closed it firmly with a lurking gaze on me, who was fully sitting on his bed.
My heartbeat raced, with my eyes widening. I should have known when they put me in a room, with wide space.
“Is this your room?”
I asked, hoping to not hear the answer to that.
I once heard a story about the females on every ship, warming the Captain’s bed. Hope it wasn’t the same as this ship…
“Put off the torches.” he seethed. I stood up from the bed, walking towards him.
“As you wish.” I said, even though I didn’t like the dark. I searched for a duplicate surname, trying to get along with him so he left the lights on.
“My name is Frida. Frida—”
“Nobody cares about a commoner’s last name, Frida. Get that into your head, now put off the torch.” he seethed.
I sighed, walking towards the first torch, dipping it in water. I peeked through the corner of my eye at Captain Draco. He was removing his shirt, making my face tint into a shade of red at his lean waist and sturdy body.
As I put off the second torch which was the last torch, darkness welcomed the room. Just that instant, the ship swerved. That made me get a sickly feeling. Especially at the fact that it was like déjà vu.
“Help me,” I whispered.
The flashbacks came into my head that instant.
I fell to the floor, with my hands clasped at the sides of my head.
…
Draco’s POV
The minute the girl put off the second torch, she crumbled on the ground cowering in fear.
“Help me,” she whispered. My vampiric witcher was able to hear her little tones so vividly.
“Don’t come near me…”
She muttered two contradictory words.
“Girl.” I called out.
It didn’t look like she heard me. My nose flared, at her pants and shivers. She seemed scared of something, it made me wonder if it was the ship? First timers were frequently afraid, it was nothing new.
“Please…help me.” she murmured. I took hasty steps towards her. She looked lost, almost like the men I interrogated. I took a bucket of water, splashing the contents on her.
It dampened her entire clothes, from her murky red hair to toe. “Girl?”
As I echoed it, she even whimpered more. This mysterious girl reached out for something, with her hand stretching out.
“T-the…” she trailed on her words.
“The what?”
“The l-light,”
Did she mean the torches? I moved to lit the whole sticks. The sooner I lit one, the girl brought something from her cloth. It was like a puppet. She held the puppet tightly, whispering, “He’s gone now. He would not come to you, ever. You won’t meet him again.”
“Just believe, Frida. It would never happen again.” she added delicately.
I arched a brow, lighting the second torch which I hanged in the bearer.
“Who’s gone?” I asked her.
“It’s not relevant.” she said. “I’m afraid of the dark, Captain.” She stood up from her spots, returning the puppet back into her pockets.
“And my name’s Frida, goddamit.” she added.
“You shouldn’t use swear words, little one.” I replied.
“Why? Should I be thankful you poured a bucket of water on me? I’m all wet, now.” she complained. “How am I going to sleep with this amount of cold?”
At her voice, something lurked in me. It coursed through, like a jumble of guilt, calling out to me.
“Figure it out yourself. You have all the light.” I sarcastically stated.
“Damnation,” she cursed again, wriggling out her clothes. I grinned, with a low rumble of laughter at her drama.
To think of it… she hated darkness which was opposed to me who dwelled with darkness. This defined me. Darkness was my true heritage as the vampiric Lord witcher.
