Chris's POV
"We'll be living tonight for the ball, right?" Asked my best friend Ashton.
"Yeah" I answered and got out of my office room.
As soon as I stepped inside the car I started thinking about the lavish life I'm living.
Note the sarcasm, I don't like going to theses balls where these guys even younger than me show off their mates, while I didn't find mine yet. It's heartbreaking but no one could do anything about it. They say I may not be blessed with one but I'm still hoping to find mine soon.
My name's Christopher Jace Samuels. I've a good height of six feet 2 inches and blue-green eyes with brown hair and tanned skin.
I'm twenty-eight years old single man who's running a very successful business in California named on my grandfather Samuels United. And there's a little thing about me that these human world don't know about, that I'm a lion.
Yes I can shift into lion and I rule an entire kingdom full of other animals who can shift into animals as well.
Well even in the race of lions there's a difference between my family and others because we have got the royal blood, my forefathers were are first to turned into these creatures. Then due to mating with lions of other bloodlines created a lot of us in the process.
We're a community full of were-animals that is totally unknown to the outer world. Most of my friends and family have found their mates while I'm still struggling in finding mine. Without a mate it is hard to manage a kingdom alongside a firm that employs about a thousand workers. My level of patience is getting lower by every passing day.
My day starts with going to the head office work till I get tired and that is mostly eleven o'clock at night. In the weekend days we have to go for balls, where we discuss the politics of our community.
Office -Training with the warriors- balls - repeat is my life right now. No mate means no enjoyment, love, excitement, nothing except the freedom. Freedom that I've started hating now. Even I want someone to go to after a hectic day. Someone to hold in my arms at night. To feel someone's warmth. Maybe I'm not destined to have one. I sighed as the thought came to my mind.
I was bought out of my thoughts by Ashton. "Dude! I'll be going to the state university to deliver a speech about how to control our mindset and work harder for the upcoming brighter future, this Thursday" "So what do you want me to do? Choose your suit?!" I said in a boring tone. "Nope I've Liza to do that, I want you to come with me, please" he pleaded. "Why do I have to go with you? I already have to attend the charity event." I said nonchalantly. " Look you've to come with me! I need a good example to set for the newcomers and you're a great example for that. And you can also talk to them and listen to their ideas and maybe we could make them work for us later on if we like any of them ". "Fine I'll try to get there, but I can't promise to stay longer"
"This is better than not going so it's alright" he said grinning.
I've nothing to do other than to attend the usual balls and office so why not go with him. It could be a new experience. I thought to myself.
